I gotta say, the card for the Anniversary Show is about the most underwhelming card I can possibly think of ROH putting together for a PPV.
I've already expressed my displeasure in the main event with a lame duck Champion and three underwhelming challengers.
The tag title match should be awesome but has a "been there/done that" feel to it despite getting virtually no build.
They're having AJ Styles, probably the hottest indy wrestler in the world in 2014, make his ROH PPV debut in a glorified squash match.
You have a ladies match featuring Maria Kanellis. At this point Cameron is a more credible women's wrestler then Maria Kanellis.
Then you have Whitmer vs. Strong which I assume is supposed to blow off the Strong-Decade rivalry despite the fact that they haven't had any real interaction since the last PPV with a Strong-Page match that really should've ended the feud anyways.
So that leaves the entire PPV to be carried by Jay Lethal vs. Alberto Del Rio. I know a lot of people have jumped on board Alberto's band wagon as he's tried to portray himself as an indy lucha hero, but that's still kinda sad. Maybe they'll bring in Ricardo and we'll get a confrontation between him and Truth Martini. That would be awesome.
The thing is ROH has the opportunity to put together a really awesome main event picture with Jay Briscoe working against guys like Styles, Daniels, his brother Mark, even Del Rio or Michael Bennett, until Adam Cole is ready to return. Yet he's fighting an unproven newcomer in Hanson, Ciampa who just feels like he's going in circles, and Elgin who's lost all credibility over the last few months with his Russo-esque shooter gimmick. Such a shame.

Incredible to call it a glorified squash.

I get that we're all entitled to our opinions and we all have different tastes, but do you just really dislike ACH? Styles-ACH is a dream match. The hottest indie wrestler in the world in 2014/2015 is facing who's certain to be the hottest indie wrestler in the world of 2016/2017. ACH, even in losing, is going to look like such a star in there with someone as established and consistent as AJ. If AJ isn't going to be in a title match but is going to attract new viewers, allowing him to bring the best out of ACH and vice versa is going to make ROH look outstanding.

I like ACH just fine, but outside of a cup of coffee feud he had with Lethal he hasn't done anything of note in ROH. "Glorified squash" was too strong of a term, I apologize for that, and I'm sure they'll have an excellent match, but ACH just does not come off as in Style's league right now (same with Hanson in the main event).
As I said, with a lame duck World Champ and a weak World Title picture, Former multi-company, multi-time World Champion AJ Styles should be in the middle of the main event scene trying to revive things. Instead he's working a match designed to either showcase his abilities (let's face it, any potential audience this PPV has already knows what Styles can do) or elevate a new talent (which is something he can do after they get some use out of him in the title picture). It's just a waste of everybody's time.

Am I the only one who thinks the 4 way is a badass main event?
You have the redneck, country farmer Jay Briscoe, who will kick anybodies ass, big or small.
You have the Sicilian Psychopath Tomasso Ciampa, who has gone crazier and crazier thanks to constantly being pushed to the edge by ROH management and would no doubt raise all kinds of hell as WORLD champion of the company who he feels is trying to bring him down.
You have the former champion Michael Elgin, who once was a man who personified Ring of Honor, who now doesn't give any damns at all about anyone but himself and will do anything to get the title he scratched and clawed and bled for back.
And you have the Warbeard Hanson, who is one hungry giant, and nothing satisifies a big man's hunger than being at the top of the food chain.
It's going to be a hell of a main event, I can tell you that much.

It's going to be a hell of a main event, I can tell you that much. It might be a decent enough match, I just don't care. You have Jay who I've never really been able to get behind as a singles competitor, Elgin who is basically the absolute worst possible entities of any wrestler rolled into one person, Hanson who I like but don't think is anywhere near ready yet and Ciampa who I like but is basically damaged goods at this point. So whilst the match might be decent, I just can't bring myself to care.

It's going to be a hell of a main event, I can tell you that much. The triple threat match they had on ROH TV was amazing and throwing Jay Briscoe in there will be great too. It's not great looking on paper, and it seems pretty obvious that Jay's gonna retain, but the fatal fourway rules do add a sense of doubt in that they can still have Jay lose it without losing his streak of never being pinned/submitted. I do agree with BlackoutCreature on a couple of things though, I'm not entirely sold on ACH yet, he's definitely really talented in the ring but I haven't really seen enough out of him as a character for him to be a must see guy. I'm sure AJ/ACH will be really cool but it's not really something I'm dying to see. Also agree that as much as I love their matches, the Bucks/reDRagon rivalry is starting to follow the Usos/Miz & Mizdow model where it's hard to even remember there are other teams anymore. We need Raymond Rowe back in a big way, and some other tag teams in the mix. Still though I'm very much looking forward to the show, Alberto El Patron is a big get and I don't care what anyone says. The Lethal/El Patron feud has been excellent so far. I'm excited for Whitmer/Roderick Strong and agree that Whitmer's on a tear right now, but even more thrilled that they're building up Roddy to be a big deal again. Should be fun.

I can't tell whether they're actually pushing Hanson, or giving him busy work until Raymond Rowe comes back.

Based off of what happened yesterday at The New Beginning why not have Bucks/ReDragon be Title for Title?

well i'd second title vs. title so reDRagon can get the IWGP Jr. tag titles back from those pretenders. the Bucks didn't beat reDRagon, they beat the Time Splitters, and unless i'm mistaken Timer Splitters weren't no champions. that is some bush league bullcrap New Japan. i believe Ric Flair's famous quote is "To be the man, you've got to beat the man" not "To be the man, just pin that non-gold wearing loser who's not the champion". as far as i'm concerned reDRagon is still the true champions, and if i were them i would protest the results of that match. New Japan better get its act together

I know I'm not as in the loop as I was, but is AJ a heel in ROH now or just on shows when the other Bullet Club guys are there?
