Lets ask Art Briles in 2008 if H2H should matter in Final rankings. Let's ask Texas if head to head matters in 2008, when the team that beat them only had 1 loss as well. Hey, never said it was not a messy mix. But Briles had to know that someday that might bite him for his rankings, esp keeping OU that far ahead of Texas and then Tech that far below.

The #4 slot was always going to be like this. They were smart to do it this way too IMO. One of the big successes of the BCS was generating interest in CFB. They did that thru constant structural controversy. The playoff will be no diffent and it will keep the conversation going all year long. Eight will happen, but they will milk this cow on all four for a Long time before that happens

Please explain the Briles 2008 thing. I am well versed in the three way tie in the Big XII and the screwin that. Tech and most especially UT got but what did Briles do

Tech and most especially UT got but what did Briles do He voted Oklahoma 1, Texas 5, and Tech 6. When you have a situation like that, where head to head can't sort anything out, you've got to go with who is playing the best at that moment.

That was a bit more complicated than this, since 2008 was a 3-way tie where each of the teams beat each other. People wanted to arbitrarily throw out the third team to give UT the advantage, but there's no way the rules allow you to ignore a game like that. At that pont, the best ranked team has to go.

More from Ryan
Been out and about. Other things going on. So it's 1.Bama 2. Oregon. 3. Fla St. 4. Buckeyes. Flip. 3 and 4 if Noles lose. Ain't hard at all.
Crazy. strange he would have Florida State in with a loss. couple of weeks ago, he had them out while still undefeated

Dan Wetzel Oklahoma loss today may cost B12 a top 25 win, which means Bob Stoops may have Big Game'd TCU and Baylor, which would be oddly impressive
Matt Fortuna Question is if the committee sends Big 12 a message. Because that would mean change. ALL the title game favorites can/are helping themselves
