So why wasn't Clay Matthews suspended? This was when Stafford was sliding. Because the appeal wasn't about Clay Matthews, it was about Suh. Don't all of a sudden act like you're somehow unfairly treated now. Your team is dirty. End of. Don't try to make the Lions some kind of victims for God's sake. You're not going to excuse bad behavior by pointing out other bad behavior. That argument irritates me to no end.

Cowboys placed DT Henry Melton on injured reserve with a bone bruise in his knee, ending his season.

Doesn't change that Matthews should be suspended for the entire playoffs for a helmet to helmet on a sliding QB. Suh didn't break any actual rules, and thus the suspension was rightly overturned. The Suh situation is over with, and doesn't matter now, that discussion is over... However there still is no justice until Matthews is out.

You can continue your quest for "justice" on my ignore list. I have no tolerance for that kind of homer attitude.

I'll admit to being a Lions fan so you can take this as being a homer or not. I think the NFL got it right by overturning the suspension. While I don't fully know the intent, I did not think it was suspension worthy. I will also admit that Suh does bring a lot of this on himself. If it wasn't for his past, I think it would've just been a fine from the start. All that said, Matthews should have also been fined. That was definitely a cheap shot on Stafford.

Are you saying that Matthews didn't perform an illegal potentially career ending hit on someone because someone else got their foot stepped on? Because that's what it sounds like. Suh has done some really dickish shit, and has deserved his punishments for them. But I hold that standard for everyone, and that means when you dive helmet first at a sliding QB in an attempt to injure them when all you had to do was touch them, you deserve the same amount of scorn. No ifs, no buts, no fan allegiance no bias. You can't hold comtempt for one, and let someone else get away with assault because of bias. So either condemn the hit, and agree that a suspension is warranted. Or just say that you're biased. Because it's one or the other. Personal feelings about players are meaningless in this situation. Although I wish the suspension had stuck because for one thing they don't need him, and also because it would deny him a big potential playoff performance that would have teams throwing even more money at him. So while the suspension was bogus, I wish it had stuck. As for Matthews, he deserves at least one game out for that kind of hit whether it was against Matthew Stafford or anyone else in the league.

How about instead of basing it off a picture, someone find the play and let's see how bad the Matthews hit really is. Homer pics (and that is what the pic is) don't do much for me.

If Matthews did indeed put a cheap shot on Stafford than he should be punished and punished severely. However, that cannot and should not be used as a way to get the attention off Suh and what he did and to make a team who has a history of dirty playing into some sort of victims.

However, that cannot and should not be used as a way to get the attention off Suh and what he did and to make a team who has a history of dirty playing into some sort of victims. They should both be getting equal attention, but by singling people out instead of holding them all to the exact same standard, Matthews can get away with those kinds of hits. So by focusing on Suh, and Suh alone, this kind of stuff is gonna happen more and more. The fact the helmet to helmet happened BEFORE the foot stepping incident is a case in point. The league thinks they're making an example of someone, instead, they're creating a diversion for other players to take advantage of. So every incident regardless of who it is should be scrutinized the same. But that won't happen, because that would take doing actual work, and making decisions that would be unpopular with certain fanbases.

I know people will think I am nuts but i would love to have Rex coaching Denver. I think Fox's style has cost us more than anything and turning the offense over to Peyton and whomever the new OC would be (rumors are Norv Turner) while putting his defense in place would improve the team 1000fold.

I kinda see a comparison between Ryan and Steve Spurrier: hate him if you play against him, love him if he coaches your team, makes any given season 10 to 15 percent more entertaining by being there and running his mouth.

It's funny, everyone seems to be arguing that Ndamukong Suh's since-rescinded one-game suspension was a reputation penalty more than anything. And while I agree with that to some extent, I also believe that if his name weren't Ndamukong Suh, his suspension never would have been lifted in the first place.
If it was some dispensable, bottom-of-the-roster defensive lineman like Caraun Reid or Larry Webster III, that suspension unquestionably stays in place. But because Suh is a star player and such a recognizable name, that appears to have trumped all else when deciding whether or not a player will be suspended for a playoff game.

Agreed, if Suh was some back up, his ass would be sitting.
And let's not act like that dude hasn't been a dirty player his entire career. THAT'S why he drew the initial supsension/got the fine.

No Thanks...

Rex should take the HC position for the Falcons. He could focus on the D and let the offense do it's thing.

With the Matthews thing, I just recall a similar hit on Trent Green several years back, the defender lowered his head right as Green slid and they collided, injuring Green. It was clear that, while it ws a hit on a sliding QB, it was more a circumstantial thing since, had Green not slid at the same time, he would have been tackled in the chest/waist area.
I'd need to see a video of the Matthews hit, because a still picture doesn't really show the full circumstances.
