The chant is fine and I will never understand why some smarks get so huffy when fans have fun in a way that isn't some specific "correct" way. Like oh no, the fans were chanting their appreciation for the thing they were seeing. How awful that they are acknowledging that the show is enjoyable. Its the worst. Wasn't there a crowd that once chanted "WE ARE AWESOME!"?

To me the marking out chant is equal to chanting for the wrestlers by their real names, it is smark crap that has no purpose in the show. There plenty of ways to show how much you love something without going the "We're smart than you" route.

Always makes me laugh. Some people seem to think that by calling themselves NXT fans they're fans of some indie promotion, rather than a WWE-owned developmental programme. That's because NXT effectively has become an alternative promotion, due to it being so distinct and seperate from the usual WWE circus. Rather than mockery or criticism of the NXT crowd, the more pertinent question is why it is different. It's precisely because it eschews the comedy variety chaotic illogical bullshit that bogs down the main roster. It's ironic that the alternative to WWE which TNA should have been, has actually come about from within WWE itself. Different can still be eye rolling-ly bad.

While I understand why that chant was a tad bit on the lame side, I always prefer these kinds of crowds to those at a WWE show because these fans make the show more exciting. They are just so damn into it and most chants add to it. I can't be the only one who had a big smile on their face from the "Put your dukes up!" and "Chivalry" chants during the Dragons/Vaudevillains match.

I struggle with this, because I love their energy. And they were influenced by ECW crowds, which have reached this legendary status through the internet and One Night Stand shows and DVDs. It makes sense that crowds are the way they are now, and they're having fun, I can't really hate on them.
That said, the chanting in general is too much. I especially hate when there's a chant, it dies down, and then there's awkward silence until another chant starts. But, it's better than staying quiet, and dicking around on their phones or something.

I love chants. I dig the excitement. I really don't mind chants either but as others have said, this was a chant straight out of the Impact Zone which made me roll me eyes. Granted, I'd much rather have the Impact Zone than a dead crowd but still, not a fan.

I also don't like this idea that I "hate fun" or people enjoying things because I think these goofy f***ing eye-rolling chants take away from the show. I am all for a hot crowd, so let's not create a false dichotomy here. It's not either NXT crowds or your average dead Raw crowd. I'd rather they made a lot of noise booing or cheering instead of their tongue-in-cheek "were so smart" chants for f***ing EVERYTHING and then the awkward silence in between.

I ultimately don't care how the crowds wanna express themselves, but some chants are better than others.
I always did see "you can't wrestle" as unnecessary unless the wrestler's unobjectively stinking the joint up, I mean they need to be Jackie Gayda bad. And I do think "We are awesome" is kinda lame. Those two I don't like, but other than that whatever, chant away.

Touched upon this in another thread but choreographed chanting contributes significantly to the lack of emotion these days. When you go to a rock concert, or whatever kids do these days, when the band finishes a song at the end you hear a roar. You'll here crowd reaction during too - cheering, clapping, joining in. What you don't hear is
WE LIKED THAT SONG *clap clap clap clap* WE LIKED THAT SONG
Ostentatious self-choreography from crowds suck and it seems to be a trend we're in now. Whenever something happens rather than an organic reaction we get a 'this is what we chant' moment. I miss the crackle of excitement you'd get when something big happened. Like when Rock and Hogan did the staredown in Chicago. The atmosphere buzzed. Rock chants, then Hogan chants, then Rock chants again.
...today:
THIS IS AWESOME *clap clap clap clap* THIS IS AWESOME
It has all the emotion of an elementary school Monday morning group 'Good morning' to the principle.
"Good morning Mrs Scheindling, good morning every one" - just so monotone and choreographed and sucky

I legit don't understand what's obnoxious about this. They're having fun and doing a geeky chant about the fun they're having. What's the problem?
