I always found him a bit bland. I like commentators with personality. Ventura, Heenan, King post 2002. It's why I quite like JBL. Love him or loathe him he's at least a 'personality' on commentary. Striker - meh.

Oh God, No. I don't want to even imagine him sucking up 5 minutes of wind at a time trying to come up with an unending series of nicknames for everyone on the roster now. "That's Seth Rollins. The Architect, The Future, The Ronin, Black Gold, The Judas, The Hound of Injustice, The Age of the Fall of the Shield, God's Last Gift, The Toxic Terror of Davenport Iowa..." You've nailed it, this is why I dislike Striker's commentary.

I'll probably just mute it when I get round to watching it. From what I've seen (which admittedly isn't much) he isn't so bad and actually calls matches pretty decently. But, if I ever get round to watching an entire episode that opinion may change lol. My main issue with Lucha Underground is how he's the designated "Bury the WWE" guy. When you want to make yourself different, don't compare yourself to the competition, because you should try to be unique instead of looking like you're catching up with the Joneses. Personally, I liked him as a commentator, although he had a few bad quirks. Didn't help that he was routinely buried for A) calling the matches like they were and B) supporting the heels more.

I always liked Matt Striker because (at the time) he was the only one really trying to make each match seem like a big deal.

I liked the guy, but he went so overboard with even the stuff he was good at that he became irritating. It's like he found his niche, but then decided to amplify it to insufferable levels.
Sad thing is, he was a solid commentator before he upped things to the point of being annoying.

The commentary is awful, so why would I want him to come back and make it worse? He's a complete douche. I'm still bummed that he's going to be calling the NJPW show.

He wasnt a good color man , but still better than current JBL & King. He should have stuck to being a manager. , I think in that role he had serious potential

I really hated his Heel announcer run. He always came off as a fan that cheered for the heels just so they can look around and make sure everyone knows they're cheering for the 'wrong' guy.
Why the hell would he root for The Nexus?!

He was a lot more tolerable than JBL and Lawler's cartoon antics.
And on Lucha Underground, he's managed to reel himself in from the weird stuff, for the most part.

I can't hate on King, Striker, JBL and so on. Commentators start out good/decent on the C shows, as they get promoted, they quickly turn into caricatures where they're told to be a character and nothing else. Once they get to Raw/Smackdown, they get yelled at near constantly so either have to adapt and become a blander commentator than Vince was in his blue suited days, or up and quit like Foley.
The WWE don't want Gorilla and Heenan, King and JR, they don't want people with chemistry being excited about the product, they want beaten down late 90s WCW Tony Schiavone and Bobby Heenan.

I get the Poison fist of the pacific rim for the Simpsons reference.... but seriously he's a guitar?

I didn't think much of Striker but he seemed to have a genuine passion for wrestling that didn't fit with what WWE wanted unfortunately.
He was a shit ton better than Jerry Lawler though.
