Really a minor setback, the game's till gonna come out next year.
EDIT: Also, it seem to have to do with the ToS. I didn't see anything in the article about Neo-Nazis... And "School Shooter the Game" haha this thread just sucks from the start.

I don't even see myself playing this game, but if something like Manhunt can exist and be purchased on Steam, this probable should be too. But again, it's not like it can't come out at all so it doesn't mean much.

Yet another attempt to censor creative expression. Not so much on Steam's end since, as my dude @mdoggdx316 pointed out, this is a Terms of Service breach issue, but you know people are going to fight hard against this game. I'm not exactly fully supportive of a title that's best, and most often described as, a "mass shooter" but it's hard to argue against the artistic merits, especially since we live in a world where one of the most popular titles of the last 5-10 years (Modern Warfare 2) featured a level designed entirely around murdering civilians and retailers didn't stop carrying it. Yes, I realize you could skip the level but I honestly don't know anyone that did, especially since there was a major bit of story at the end of said mission. Plus, you know, people can just skip playing this game. As a grown ass man, I get pretty insulted when people start shitting bricks over something they don't want to see or don't want their kids seeing. It happens with movies, video games, and books far too often, moral crusaders trying to guide us all in how our lives should be lived while doing the absolute least they can to put actual restrictions on their or their childrens' activities.

So did they remove it because of the violence or because the connections to Neo Nazis?
I mean the GTA games exist and you can walk around all day killing people until the cops kill you. I mean what's the difference?

Nice job Valve.
Now when this game does get released, either by alternate means or whatever, it'll sell even more. if they would have just released it without this stupid move the game probably wouldn't have sold that well, but now...
"THE GAME TOO CONTROVERSIAL FOR VALVE"
If the creators of the game are smart at all, they're utilize this to further promote the game.

Between this, gta5, and the tekken controversy....I feel like this going to prove that there is a problem with people who want to censor and push their own agenda in gaming.

But what about that market of angry 12-year-olds that got grounded because they didn't want to do their chores? What does Valve have for them instead?

I never advocate banning games, per se, but there are certain works out there that simply have no reason to exist. And don't give me that "artistic expression" BS, either.I don't agree with something, so it's BS. What a compelling position.

The violence in this game wasn't what offended me. I was more offended by the fact it looked utter shit. So yeah, not particularly bothered.

Ugh. I've already seen some people trying to claim this is "censorship," which is just - obviously a level of ridiculous that you can't just explain to some people.
VALVE has tons of games with violence, as others have stated, in their catalog. Whatever reason they pulled it, its not censorship, primarily because VALVE is a private company and didn't want it in their catalog. For whatever reason.
Personally I would have published the game, taken the cut that Steam gets from sales and went about my merry way, but the point is, its not censorship. Anymore than Walmart deciding not to carry one kind of socks over another is censorship.

I really don't get why people are getting so upset over this game. I mean yeah it looks like pretentious, attention-seeking bullshit and the developers sound like complete tools who are trying way too hard to be edgy but at the end of the day, it's really just a cathartic outlet, just like Doom, Rise of the Triad, Mortal Kombat, Postal, Soldier of Fortune, Grand Theft Auto, Manhunt or any of the other games that so-called moral guardians got upset over. If it seriously offends you that much, you can always just not buy the game.
And yeah, "School Shooter the game"? I don't remember seeing children in the game's trailer, let alone a school (and if there does end up being one I still wouldn't see the big deal as the game takes place in a regular town so it WOULD make sense for one to be present).

"It's not for me so it shouldn't be for anyone!" It's made even better when you realize that some people voicing support for the game around here also voiced disdain for people wearing swear words on their clothes in a recent thread so there ya have it.

With GamerGate going on right now, this is the worst time for a game like this to come out.... it'll still be released, just not on Steam.
Honestly, the game kinda looks like a laugh. Just to get it, play it, and laugh at how over-the-top ridiculous it is. But, as for being an actual game with plot, setting, mood and a point.... it's devoid of all.
