We know that thus far no recordings of the incident have surfaced, and hopefully never will for public consumption - but surely footage exists?
Aside from the hard-camera and other cameras that are always on and recording during a broadcast (they don't switch them off when using another camera) surely there'd have been cameras specifically trained on Owen ready to record his descent into the ring? Else what would be the point in doing the gimmicked entrance anyway if they weren't going to somehow record it?
Whether or not it'll ever be admitted to it seems completely incredible that you plan a massive stunt entrance for television - and you don't bother to film it or at least have a couple of cameras readied to capture it. There must have been at least one camera trained on Owen with the intent of capturing his being lowered from the ceiling.

I believe the footage has been confirmed to exist. Nobody will ever see that thing outside of a few WWE archive workers.

I had a buddy in high school that tried and tried to find footage of Owen's fall. He would spend hours in the school's library looking for video or photographs.
On a side note, I always thought Droz's accident happened on Raw? Shows how much I know, I suppose.

I hope it doesn't exist.

Other than perhaps legal purposes, why would anybody ever want to see it?

When this happened, a lot of people don't realize that the lights in the arena were off so that the titantron was the focus of everything. Cameras really weren't doing anything because of it, nor would they really be able to see much. Since no one was looking up, the majority of people didn't even see the fall until the last few feet. Therefore in order for footage to exist, it would have had to have been pointed at him the whole time, otherwise the only possibility would be if the hard camera was on and saw the ring, in which you'd get the impact on tape. But again, the lights were off so I don't know how much you'd see.

He was making a gimmicked entrance from the ceiling, I don't believe for a second there wasn't at least one camera trained on him ready to capture it. It's a professional production. Shots and angles for pre-planned stuff is worked out hours or sometimes days in advance. It would have been something the production staff would be aware of and they'd have been readied to capture it. They wouldn't have just done it and hoped someone caught it on film. There would have been at least one camera operative told to get into position to capture the descent. It was pre-planned bit so the camera work wouldn't have been spontaneous. There'd be shots lined up specifically for it. They wouldn't have planned to capture the last couple of feet only on the hard camera. Absolutely no way.

I imagine footage does exist, and probably has been used sadly in the court battles between WWE and Martha Hart.

If god forbid this incident happened today, there would be no lack of footage with the amount of camera phones people have today.
It's a bit concerning if people actually want to watch this.

I had a friend who used to search for it on Kazaa, he would swear he found it, and it would be footage of Vic Grimes falling at xpw or whatever that was.

Smackdown taping, the match was obviously edited out. You wouldn't happen to know what they filled that 10 minutes with, would you? Just edit out less of the other stuff than they normally would have? As per CRZ's review, 10/7/99 episode, BTW...

It exists. I'm sure it's not television quality due to reasons already mentioned but you can't convince me no camera got it. Not with a production as big as WWF. And Droz obviously exists because they've shown it on the "Don't try this at home" bit The "Careers Ended In An Instant" part? Are we sure that's the Droz incident?

Other than perhaps legal purposes, why would anybody ever want to see it? Morbid curiosity is probably the answer. That is always the answer to why anyone would see real death on film.
