Can anyone explain Ziggler's rise lately?
It's been crazy to see how great Ziggler's been. It started back during the Miz/IC title feud and we thought Ziggler would be buried because of his comment then but it didn't happen. The guy eventually won the title back from Miz. Afterwards during the Team Authority/Team Cena angle, Ziggler was made out to be a big time signing. They made Ziggler seem like he was the guy who could turn the tide of the war. He was the one who got the pin for the team in the end, not Cena but Dolph Ziggler. He then won the IC title back from Harper and he also finally beat Rollins (and the Stooges) clean on Smackdown yesterday.
Ziggler had a clean win over Mr. MITB Seth Rollins, the same guy who's apparently aligned to Heyman and beat Cena Monday. Now we have this:
I'm not sure why Ziggler's getting this push but needless to say he deserves it. Let's hope it continues.

The guy's been like Daniel Bryan-lite: no matter how badly they book the guy over the years he somehow perseveres, and the people still react to him. It was pretty telling when Big Show, Rowan, and Harper all got the jobber entrance on Raw and he was the only guy who got a televised entrance.
I could definitely him as a dark horse pick to win the Rumble if for some reason the crowd turns on Roman Reigns hard leading up to the Rumble (though I don't expect that to happen.) Honestly, I almost think they are pushing him right now because they probably don't want a repeat of what happened last year with Bryan. Not that I would expect it to, but I suppose anything's possible.

I thought for sure he'd flop when pushed as a face, as he's such a natural heel and he seems to favour that himself.
I'm so pleased to say I was flat wrong

They could ride this wave until the Rumble and do absolutely nothing with it, like we expect them to. Ziggler has been organically super over since 2012 and WWE have wasted their opportunities to strap the rocket. He moves merch so how about you get the machine behind him like they are with Reigns.

Feeling the void that CM Punk left which has him, Ambrose, and Reigns duking it out over the resident anti-hero/bad boy spot. Dolph has history with the crowd whose been there for his triumphs and pitfalls so it's easier to have a connection with them. Hopefully, Ziggler doesn't get injured once his momentum picks up like he suffered in the past.

Difference between him and Bryan being WWE officials can claim they pushed Ziggler off the bat and no one would argue it was all because of the vocal fans.

I fully expected this to be about Ziggler wrestling with a boner.
Part of me is glad it's not... part of me is sad it's not

I still find it interesting at the end of the ladder match with Harper that the announce team was comparing Dolph to Bret and Shawn specifically.
I'll be shocked at this point if Dolph doesn't get the big world heavyweight title run in the next couple years. I think Rollins, Reigns, Ambrose and Wyatt will be the main players fighting over the belt in the next year, but I think somewhere in all of that business, Ziggler will get his lengthy run with it finally and cement his legacy.
If anything, Vince can say that he pushed someone that everyone can agree on if they do give Ziggler the ball.

Wow, that interview with Cole is exactly how you can have a heel with an established character trait, turn face and still keep all the things that defined him but still be believable as a face.

He's gonna end up being the Daniel Bryan to Roman Reigns' Batista.

To me, it almost seems like Ziggler is their safe bet for Wrestlemania. Reigns has returned and they're prepared to hitch the cart up to him, but... I think WWE is aware the time he was gone, he really needed to maintain momentum. Now, there's a chance he might not be the best bet going into Wrestlemania. However, Ziggler has always been there, always been reliable, can bump like a madman....
It seems like if, at a certain point, WWE feels Reigns just isn't where they need him to be. They may plunk Ziggler in his spot for Wrestlemania.... he'd sell Lesnar like absolute death, but then through perseverance and slowly chipping away at the defenses... Ziggler would do the impossible and stop the beast.
Realistically, that probably won't happen, but I'm just glad they seem to be putting more faith in him and allowing him to do more.

He's gonna end up being the Daniel Bryan to Roman Reigns' Batista. If Bryan himself doesn't make the Rumble, I can see the fans latching on to Dolph and throwing their support behind him, to the point that the crowd will go nuclear if he gets eliminated.

I think Ziggler should be "The Man". He's a good looking guy with a good look. He is a real workhorse with charisma. And hell, Ziggler can actually do the "douchebag comedy face" schtick that Vince thinks all top faces should do.

He's gonna end up being the Daniel Bryan to Roman Reigns' Batista. I'm still wondering if they aren't going to try and recreate that to a degree. Make a winner so obvious that if the crowd turns, Ziggler wins and is a hero. if the crowd doesn't turn on Reigns, let him run with it and win. it's an oddly genius win-win, which is why I think it's too "smart" for the WWE to manufacture. But I've been wrong before. Just ask my wife.

This could have been the next Batista's bulge thread. "Our next question for Cowboy Bob Ellis comes from Tim from our forums; "How big is Dolph Ziggler's dick?"

Ziggler's in a unique place as a character as well given his history with the company. Given these past few years, like Bryan used to be, fans don't know if he'd beat Lesnar which is great given it would be a huge surprise if he did. If you have Reigns for example, everyone will automatically assume Reigns is beating Brock for the title. Ziggler though, he's been through so much people can legit believe he won't win as a statement. He has that believability about him.

If the WWE wants Reigns to win the Rumble, then I hope for their sake that they have the foresight to not have Ziggler and Reigns be the last two men in the ring. It will be Batista part II, especially in Philly.
