If Vince did decide to play hardball over the name, they should give him a name the 'E hasn't staked a claim to. Introduce him as "Bryan Danielson, the American Commentator" and have him gee up the crowds by punching the air with both fists and shouting "maybe.".
That'd show Vince.

Given actual Bryan would probably sue them, perhaps not. Funnier would be if he had to use a different name, but just based his persona on commentator Vince. "Whattamaneuver! He's got, 1, 2,- OH he didn't get him!"

I'm still stunned they had somebody actually named Michael Cole and completely passed on doing anything with it.

Mr. Matthews, that's not wise!

Josh Matthews was one of several commentators in WWE that was bland and uninspiring. I don't see how this is a good thing.
And for the love of god, get rid of Taz.

Makes me wonder if there's going to be any Michael Cole "in-jokes" since now both of his buddies are on the commentating booth.

Mr. Matthews, that's not wise! I must say, I am almost embarrassed I didn't think to make this joke, and that I didn't see anyone else do it, either. That's the perfect reference.

Dunno if I'd be that harsh, but the colour run that Matthews had, I'm thinking 2012-ish somestage, was amongst the more inspired of his career. It's a bit of a scratcher they'd drop him in as play-by-play as a result. Tenay, granted, has a shaded many a seminal TNA moment with far too reserved, pedestrian calls, but he was, by no stretch, the greatest issue at that desk. Viewers tuning in for the first time are going to notice less the slightly strained, but professional Tenay calling what's going on, and more zone-in on Tazz and his seeming incapacity to keep up with his own product.

Yeah, but Tazz was prominent in WWE and TNA still doesn't get that having someone the audience recognizes doesn't automatically make them want to follow your show.

Boo.
I actually really like Mike Tenay.
Yeah, he's been pretty garbage in TNA for the most part, but he's like the ultimate mark rube. A heel could "break" a faces' leg or something and he'll be more fired up about it than they are. He belongs in a booth, just not in one doing play-by-play opposite Taz.
I've always found Matthews kind of meh, but straight man/goober might just work a hell of a lot better than goober/goober.
I think he's superior to Iron Mike at straight calling
