I like this one. It adds a whole new layer to the film. It's not a fan theory though, JJ Abrams has flat out stated that fact in interviews before. Then again, he also said the monster isn't dead and we'd see a sequel so who f***ing knows. MAKE CLOVERFIELD 2 JJ! We may forgive you for Into Darkness if you do. What about the theory that Stan Lee is the same character in every Marvel movie? It doesn't make a bunch of difference but it's fun to think of that one guy being in all these places. I will be disappointed if they don't reveal that Stan Lee is really Uatu the Watcher.

There are never any monsters or supernatural instances in Courage the Cowardly Dog. The entire show depicts real, everyday life, as depicted from a dumb little dog's worldview. Courage is just a regular little dog who is loyal, devoted to his owners, doesn't get out much (because his owners are too old to take him for a walk), and is afraid of anything that's unfamiliar. That's why Eustace and Muriel don't seem to realize the "danger" they're in; they just see the mailman coming to the door, or a neighbor borrowing a cup of sugar, or Eustace sneezing, or the toaster going off, or whatever. But Courage thinks that these things are horrible ghosts and monsters, and so he freaks out and thinks that he needs to "rescue" his owners. Well then explain just what the hell this is if not anything supernatural. Best. Episode. Ever.

Similarly, that Bruce Campbell's character(s) in the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy would have eventually paid off with him being Mysterio.

Bruce Campbell being Mysterio would have been awesome.
I know the Bond-as-a-Codename thing has already been pretty well dismissed previously, but that theory absolutely drives me bonkers.
Lazenby's Bond reminisces over objects from Connery's Bond making them the same person ("This never happened to the other guy" just being a breaking the fourth wall joke).
Moore's bond is the same Bond, as Sheik Hosein in The Spy Who Loved Me remembered Moore/Bond from Cambridge. Dalton's Bond RESIGNED and was still James Bond. Both Moore and Dalton acknowledge the dead wife, making it clear that Connery, Lazenby, Moore and Dalton are all the same guy.
Lastly you have the flashback in Goldeneye establishing that Brosnan is also the same Bond.
There is no textual evidence in the films whatsoever for it being a Codename, nor is there support for it in the books. The director of Die Another Day wanted to use the codename theory but ended up not doing so.
Skyfall, of course, completely obliterates Bond-as-a-Codename by showing his parents graves.

Is the theory that the grandpa telling the story in Princess Bride (Peter Falk) being the most recent incarnation of the Dread Pirate Roberts a thing?
Someone posted on my Facebook feed a week ago a story about a kid got to the end of the movie and interpreted his "As you wish" wink at the end of the film as being confirmation of this, and that Fred Savage's character will be the next Dread Pirate Roberts, and this kid's dad basically freaked out because he never thought of that before.

The Craig movies are an entirely different continuity though, they've confirmed that.

Stallone bangs his own daughter in Demolition Man. (not really a fan theory, but something they talked about on HDTGM?)

Here's what I would say to someone with that theory. Grandpa doesn't wink at the grandson. Also "As you wish" was not really a calling card of the Dread Pirate Roberts. It was Westley's way of expressing his love for Buttercup. The framing story with the grandfather telling the story to his grandson is an adaptation of author William Goldman's commentary and asides from the book. Goldman didn't just write the actual story with Westley and Buttercup. He writes about a fictional process of him searching for the book from his childhood by S. Morgenstern (fictional author Goldman made up), reading it to his son (Goldman doesn't have a son), and getting to abridge S. Morgenstern's much longer version of The Princess Bride (which obviously doesn't exist). Just like the movie breaks up the action with scenes with the grandfather and grandson, Goldman would put these asides and comments in between the story in the book.

What about him being a named character in at least both Fantastic Four movies The Fantastic Four's mailman Willie Lumpkin in the first and Stan Lee in the second recreating the scene from the comic wedding of Reed and Sue (well half because Kirby was in the comic scene as well but...)

Having just watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows last night (thanks ABC Family for the constant Potter marathons) I always really liked the idea that Neville Longbottom was the real chosen one and Potter was just a distraction for Voldermort. Obviously they didn't go in that direction but I would have loved it.

After the next one bombs and Marvel/Disney regains the movie rights to the FF, it'll be wiped from all human memory and there'll be no conflict in the Stan/Uatu theory. In my world, there's only 1 "Highlander" movie, only 3 "Star Wars" movies (but includes the Holiday Special), and Axl Rose retired after "Use Your Illusion" and is a hermit on a beach in the South Pacific!
