I remember in the year 2000, for all of January, MTV2 played (almost) every video in their library from A to Z (Songtitle-wise). Even though i didnt have that channel at the time, i thought that was a cool idea. Granted, nowadays with youtube, even the most obscure videos can be seen easily, but back in 2000 it wasnt that easy.

yeah that was awesome. I didn't have it at the time, but my friends at college had it... so I wasn't able to watch as much as I would've liked to... but what I saw was awesome.
... although, you start realzing how many videos some bands had. I swear Rolling Stones owned a block of at least an hour or so....

There's a local radio station here called 93.7 (the Bob) that did this last summer. They are a variety station that plays pretty much everything from the 60's-90's and current pop. It took them about a week.
And while it would be cool for a channel to do this with videos again, we'd first need a channel that plays videos all the time.

I remember this happening, but I didn't have MTV2 at the time (I was in Jackson, MS). Had I, however, and knowing the way I used to record random shit back in the day, I would have gone through soooo many blank tapes on this.

I thought this was going to be about when MTV2 would show Music Videos uncensored on some late night block. I don't remember the name of it, but Andrew WK hosted it and it came on after midnight. I remember that was the first time I saw Metallica's Turn the Page uncensored and saw a vagina on basic cable.

I randomly recorded and found some cool videos that I still can't find on youtube. I think it took about 4 months.
Did they admit they left out videos or did people notice? They played some REALLY obscure stuff, so what and why did they leave out?

Though I guess there is an argument to be made that having an all video channel is something that appeals to more of a niche market these days.

If I had an endless amount of time, I would find all of those videos from that playlist, put them in a giant playlist on YouTube and set it on random to create a new MTV haha

VH1 Classic did that a few times too. Hell, normal VH1 did it first in the mid-90s. I hooked up my VCR and recorded an entire cassette-worth of videos.
