"My Mad Fat Diary" is set in 1996, although it's a British sitcom so I imagine a lot of people haven't heard of it.
Actually thinking about it, it's a comedy-drama so maybe it doesn't even count.

I'd watch it just for the music.

I don't get it, she goes back in time looking the exact same way she does in the future?

Surviving Jack was a sitcom set in the 90's/ It's a shame that show was canceled, it snowed a lot of potential and was pretty funny.

The guy has always been underrated in comedic roles. I hope he reprises his Wt Hot American Summer role in the Netflix sequel.

well
50's (happy days) - made in 70s approx 20 years on 70's (that 70s show) - made in 90s approx 20 years on
and now we're around 20 years on from the 90s. Tv tropes has a good page about why that is so that I can't be bothered to find.

I can't wait until we get a 2010's sitcom and it's just a bunch of people walking around on smart-phones walking into walls and oncoming traffic. Now that will be funny.
[EDIT] It will be silent, of course.

I just hope every plot point doesn't become a damn music clue like it did in the Surviving Jack pilot. That became grating. I understand that pilot episode is all about setting up characters and conflicts and in the case of nostalgic/period piece shows, the time period, and usually means hammering these points home to help establish them. But man did it get repetitive! Knowing Fox, I went into this show assuming it would be cancelled. And they did seem to just dump it. But each episode was better than the last. Chris Meloni was the perfect tough sitcom dad. I only saw the aforementioned pilot, but this statement is why I gave the show a chance, but only saw the pilot. I hope Meloni is given the chance to play another hard ass TV dad. Is the show worth given another view and is there anywhere online it's available?

By the time they got to the last episode they had really started to hit a groove.

There was already a sitcom about the 90's, it was called Friends.

Isn't this just Being Erica? To us Yanks, if it started in Canada, it doesn't count. Its why we took Degrassi, gave it a Southern California paintjob, and then sold it as 90210.

so did anyone catch this tonight? It really wasn't bad, and I am far from the shows intended audience.
