I just don't understand how somebody can say they'll go to something, so you buy the tickets, and then two weeks before, or even the night before (that's happened to me, too), they back out and leave you on the hook for the money. I can think of at least three times this has happened to me. And now I've been planning a bachelor party weekend where I bought tickets to a show, made sure all six guys knew how much it would be two months ago when I bought the tickets and made sure everybody was in a few times. Last week one guy backed out, which I can sorta understand cause he lives a couple states away and at least he offered to pay if I couldn't find anybody else. Now another has backed out with no indication that he'll pay me for his share. This just infuriates me. If I can't find anybody to go I'm definitely making this guy pay me back, I still have the text from him agreeing to everything. Really, though, how can people feel okay with leaving a friend on the hook like that?

Lots of people suck. Even friends. Sometimes your friends suck the most.

That's why you get them to pay up front.

I've had this happen to me a number of times, 2 people dropped out of a Slipknot gig (which was on my birthday no less) a few days before the show. And I hate selling tickets at a show.
TNA I've been unlucky with too, out of the 2 shows I've been to a had to sell one ticket at the door and the 2nd time (I booked 2 tickets one for me and a friend) 2 people dropped out luckily was able to sell to a third.
Only missed one gig that I booked tickets for, Papa Roach in 02 because I had just come out of hospital.

That's why you get them to pay up front. Seriously this. When I buy tickets I used to give them away. But, people are very ungrateful if it has no value to them, and sometimes unreasonably demanding. Once they are financially invested they take it more seriously. I offered up free tickets to an event in a big facebook group. One guy wanted them, this was less then a week before the event. I asked him when he wanted to meet in front of the entrance because we were going early and I'd make sure to check my phone and be near the entrance when he got there. He told me that would be inconvenient for him and I should just next day UPS them, don't use USPS he explicitly said. I was like NOPE. I ain't paying extra to GIVE you something. I will go a little out of my way to meet up with you but otherwise nope. The other lady who got one of the extras changed her mind last minute and so the third person who asked for it also wanted me to try to find her another for her ride. My friend who sold his extras had no hassle from the buyers and only thanks. I had one guy IOU me an ROH ticket once at an event four hours away. We get to the city and he didn't have any cash for dinner either so i paid for his ticket and two meals and drove he had enough for a soda from a gas station, he seriously left his home for a 12 plus hour day with a couple bucks and pocket change.

This has happened to me as well-I had a friend that was so wishy washy-he's that way with everything though-I think something is wrong with him, because he's done a lot worse than that.

I was supposed to go with a friend to a concert, but she wanted me to buy the tickets and she would pay me back. I never bought the tickets, because she was always rally flaky and I didn't want her bailing on me.

Ouch, I've had people back out but never had people back out and leave me on the hook for the money. That's how you can tell who your friends are.
