Remember how the dirtsheets were saying how The Miz was highly regarded backstage as a "work horse" due to his involvement with Make A Wish and media appearances around 2010- early 2011? They were saying he could become a face of the company since Vince liked the guy.
Do you guys think he's still looked upon in this way by the guys in the back? I hope he's a main event heel for the next few years, the clock is ticking.

Hard to say. I imagine that his days of being viewed as a mainstay are over but he has to be considered a WWE veteran by now. The guy has been an active member of the roster for over eight years now. Reminds me of Punk talking about Kelly Kelly being a lock room veteran at times because she had more experience in WWE (maybe not wrestling as a whole) then half of the people there.

I think that awesome segment early on in the Authority storyline where Stephanie called him the 'utility player' who they send to do signings at malls and conventions cos he's up for anything but will never be 'the guy' ever again is probably true. Hence why the segment was awesome.

He'll never be a top guy again but I assume he'll always have a job and prominent spot on TV. Which isn't bad at all.
If Triple H liked him, and if he wasn't helping Sandow get over, I'd honestly like to see him go on NXT for a stint. They royally messed up his face turn with how he was constantly punked out. I'd like to see if he still has fire left in him or if he's mostly resigned to be WWE's comedy guy.

I don't think it bothered Miz in the long run since he just used that to roleplay with Maryse and have her be the janitors wife who had to live with her husband the janitor in the utility room.

I guess he's viewed as a company man. Like Kane

There are worse things for a career than being the "utility guy"

Considering he beat John Cena in a Wrestlemania main event (which just happened to involve The Rock) and he ultimately met his wife via his WWE stint, I like to think he's fine with how everything went. And it's not as if he's been ignored. He's constantly on TV and involved in programs, and he's had several other title reigns since losing the WWE Championship. If you look at other former WWE/World champions, like Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio, Miz has had one of the better post-championship periods.

There are worse gigs to have, and with so many people on the roster unable to find a niche or get over, he's sitting pretty with Mizdow, I'd say.
I don't think I'd ever expect him to be champion again, but he'd probably be a decent contender for one of the B PPVs or in like a Chamber match, etc. I don't see him as someone who'd be the top guy, but he can get heat.

He's a guy who will have a job with the WWE as long as he wants one. While he's not a main event talent, he's a good hand and is media and fan friendly in a way that they can't train.

Ditto everyone else. There's a lot to be said about someone who is good at his dream job, is well liked, and dependable.

They probably realize, like everyone else has, that he's a solid midcard guy to have around; that any sort of main event spot was a big mistake and an aberration, but he's a perfectly fine guy to have on your roster.

He is. But I feel as though Miz has more value to the company as a failed main eventer, than he would if he had never been pushed to that point. If Miz were never given that spot, everything he does beyond that point mean considerably less. I like Miz, but I think if he were never WWE Champion, he'd be in the lower card or released, not because of his talent or lack of, but because WWE thinks everyone needs to be shoved into the main event at some point to get over and be taken seriously.

I like the comparison to Kane. Kane doesn't get a world title run often, but he always has a spot, and is always safe and easy to work with. Miz could have his "Kane" spot for another decade. And I'm sure he's being paid at the level of his accomplishments. He was a midcard champion before guys like Sheamus or Del Rio were even in the company. He's worked with everyone from DX to The Rock to Cena to Jericho to Lesnar. When he does retire it will be either from a freak injury or on his terms a long time from now.

The Miz is a heat magnet. People love to hate the guy... he's good in the ring, he doesn't mind being made a fool of, he has all the tools to remain gainfully employed for as long as he wants to be there.
As far as being a top guy? I dunno, I don't see it... but then again, I had a hard time seeing Edge as a top guy for a lot of years and he became the hottest heel in wrestling for a few years. Right now, I don't see him as a top guy...
