Looks like he's been hanging around the Young Bucks for too long.

yeah that is pretty tasteless. I mean, it's a fine catchphrase to get heat, but I wouldn't want to wear a shirt glorifying crippling someone.

Well, it's at-least better than the Yoshi Tatsu X-Ray shirt.

I get that it's deliberately heelish but man, AJ isn't making himself seem like any less of an unrepentant asshole lately.

AJ comes across as a dumb hick, why should I expect anything else from him?

He's a heel in New Japan, and Lionheart credited him for taking advantage of his reputation on Facebook earlier. Not that much different from Owen Hart's "I Just Broke Your Neck" shirt.

Even without the potential real life douche factor, that is a horrible shirt. Solid idea but the worst design I've ever seen. Worse than low rent indie bad.

That is a valid point. The shirt is obviously tasteless, but if it's meant to be kayfabe then it makes sense. That said, the Styles Clash is a crap move he needs to lose. When done safely it's just not very impressive, doesn't seem like it would do much damage. When done to look dangerous that's because it actually is. IMO the springboard scorpion deathdrop was always a much better move anyway.

It'd be one thing if he broke one dude's neck. He's hurt MULTIPLE people with the move because this goofball wouldn't stop using it. They were accidents caused by his own stubbornness and refusal to change. f*** off, Styles.

The thing about that the Styles Clash is that the move itself is perfectly safe. The problem is people have been tucking their head taking the move, which you're absolutely not supposed to do. AJ has complete control of everything except for that so if you tuck your head like Roderick Strong, Yoshitatsu, or Lionheart then you're pretty much asking for trouble.
Also, if the move is so dangerous, why did people only just now start getting hurt from it when he'd been doing it in TNA for years without any reports of people getting hurt like this?
Though I do agree that I'm not that big a fan of the move. Apparently AJ isn't either. He'd be perfectly fine using something else to win his matches, but JADO and GEDO are the ones responsible for deciding each finish for each match in New Japan, and for whatever reason they want him to keep using the Clash.
As for the shirt... well yeah, I can see how that might be a little off-putting.

Yeah, AJ Styles has always seemed like an ignorant asshole. It's sad, but this shirt doesn't really surprise me. I like his in-ring work, but I've found that I pretty much despise everything else about Styles.

Sadly pro wrestling has a bit of a history of cashing in on stuff like this: the aforementioned Owen shirt post-Austin piledriver, and Heyman telling Benoit they'd start calling him "The Crippler" after the Sabu incident.

This t-shirt is vintage pro wrestling. No different than when Ox Baker took credit for killing a guy in the ring. Baker did it so that people will hate him. Styles is doing the same thing. The difference between now and then is that sports entertainment has become so "PC" and the fan "universe" has gotten more involved in the lives of the men behind the characters than we are in the characters themselves.
In 2013, the actor Larry Hagman died during the filming of season 2 of Dallas. To write the character off the show, they had him murdered. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall anyone protesting the network for being insensitive in the handling of Hagman's death. Anyone with sense knew that this was the most fitting end for the J.R. character and that underneath the "kayfabe" there was nothing but respect and admiration for the actor who drove the success of both Dallas series'.
A.J. is probably not disrespecting this guy. Neither was Ox Baker. Neither was Owen. They were playing their characters, because wrestling is scripted entertainment that's about characters, storylines and drama. It's not their problem that some fans still seem to be confused by this.
