Just because it's "old school" doesn't mean it isn't dickish and tasteless.

What does the gay community think of the shirt?

The thing about that the Styles Clash is that the move itself is perfectly safe. The problem is people have been tucking their head taking the move, which you're absolutely not supposed to do. AJ has complete control of everything except for that so if you tuck your head like Roderick Strong, Yoshitatsu, or Lionheart then you're pretty much asking for trouble. Also, if the move is so dangerous, why did people only just now start getting hurt from it when he'd been doing it in TNA for years without any reports of people getting hurt like this? Though I do agree that I'm not that big a fan of the move. Apparently AJ isn't either. He'd be perfectly fine using something else to win his matches, but JADO and GEDO are the ones responsible for deciding each finish for each match in New Japan, and for whatever reason they want him to keep using the Clash. As for the shirt... well yeah, I can see how that might be a little off-putting. The TNA guys were working with AJ all the time, so they're used to the move. Guys like Roddy and Yoshi didn't have that kind of familiarity with the Styles Clash.

I hate everything about the fonts they used.
Either just do the "STYLES CLASH" banned thing or the ryhme. Not both.
Also, it would have been cooler with an x-ray/skeleton of someone taking the Clash the wrong way.
I know its pretty cold, but it would have made a better looking shirt, from a purely visual standpoint.

And on top of that, Stevie Richards and Kazarian got their necks messed up on the move in TNA, just not as badly as the guys recently.

Even without the potential real life douche factor, that is a horrible shirt. Solid idea but the worst design I've ever seen. Worse than low rent indie bad. Yeah, if you can recreate the shirt in 5 minutes in paint... maybe you should think harder

AJ should know better. Then again he yelled the word "faggot" in at least a match or two in the 2000s so it doesn't shock me that much. Great wrestler, great look, but not the sharpest knife.

Styles 3:16 says you just broke your own neck by taking the move wrong. Fixed...but not as catchy.

More than a time or two. Add in the stuff he said to Lazz in Wildside,it should be obvious AJ is a homophobe.

Yeah, I was pretty sure it was more than a time or two, but my memory is hazy and I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's just lucky he's in an industry known for having plenty of carnies in it. In some industries employers have refused to hire people/fired people for less. Without getting into anything else about homophobia by the 2000s anyone with any kind of public image should have known how damaging using "faggot" as an insult is especially since like you said it wasn't an isolated incident. This is why I'm using it as an example to show his lack of intelligence rather than discuss his homophobia, which has no connection to this new shirt.

Not sure I'd wear it. It's not evil, but it is a strange shirt.

Double J gives his 2 cents..
On whether AJ Styles should change his finisher, The Styles Clash: “I want to have all due respect to guys that have been injured but I’ve heard that and I just have to laugh. Actually, I laughed. This business, as Jim Ross says, ‘it ain’t ballet.’ But you need to learn how to protect yourself and if you can’t protect yourself, either A get out of the business or B don’t take it. Don’t put it on AJ. Back in the asylum, Frankie Kazarian took it wrong and I know that the nature of our business is the tuck your chin to protect your neck. On this, know going in, focus and know, if AJ can be in this predicament. You know what to do. I put it on the performer, not on AJ. Not even close. It’s ridiculous, in my opinion, for someone to say, ‘AJ, that move needs to be banned.’ He’s done it for 12 years and, if a guy can’t protect himself, it’s not AJ’s fault.”

A shirt like this is not an example of a heel pro wrestler demonstrating that he is a good heel pro wrestler. The basis of the shirt is that people he has worked with got legitimately injured, rather than safely getting through a match with him. One would think Styles would do whatever he can to make people forget about the people who were injured, rather than continuing to remind people of it with something like this. Pretty much the only way this shirt could be a good idea would be if 100% of the profits generated by it are going toward the medical bills of the guys who got screwed up by the move.

I guess it's catchier than "MY JOB IS TO ACT LIKE I'M HURTING PEOPLE, BUT I FAIL AT IT BY INJURING PEOPLE LEFT AND RIGHT".
