I've issues with creative but turning Swagger into a likeable baby face is asking far, far too much. That's crap. He was doing just fine until the opted to job the shit out of him to Rusev No he wasn't. He was the Marty Janetty in the Real Americans until Cesaro left and I don't remember him doing anything after that until Rusev. The gimmick and his partnership with Cesaro actually made him far, far more interesting than he was was. If that's fading out now he should at least be thankful for the ride. He has zero charisma. Even when he does the 'We the people' thing that fans enjoy joining in with he does it with all the charisma of a sock with facial paralysis. I'm sure he's a great guy in his private life but he doesn't exactly ooze magnetism. The gimmick, Zeb and later Cesaro were all FAR more over than Swagger, who I'd argue has actually been a drag on his own success.

I wouldn't miss him. He's never been anything but Kurt Angle Lite to me. I'd settle for Kurt Angle Lite than scores of the other crappy wrestlers we've seen on WWE TV for decades.

Angle had charisma and was great to watch. The only comparison is their race, nationality and the fact they both wear a singlet.

Anytime they have a foreign heel they can have them feud with Swagger and Swagger will be over in the match. No matter if he wins or loses, he will be over simply because of his gimmick and chant. That's pretty much going to be his status from now until he's let go. Does this mean he's done? He's not done as a competitor but he's done as to being a main eventer that's for sure. He'll be a midcarder from now until he leaves.

In terms of talent, I'd agree. But in this instance, I actually meant that he had Angle's gimmick, but none of his charisma and only about half of his talent.

He'll be a midcarder from now until he leaves. They could repackage him. He's typical 'room filler' wrestler for me. He'd work as a minor player in a faction or as the less interesting tag-team partner, the latter of which he was until fairly recently. I don't think he has the ability to be a singles wrestler on any kind of elevated level, he just doesn't have the charisma to do it. The difference is looking at how Cesaro got over with the same gimmick, until they put him with Heyman and his heat died. It's a perfect example of two people in a tag team and one shining through and making it work and the other...not. Swagger is the 'not'

Yep, he's finished. Overall Swagger has been a complete non-entity. For a guy his size, he should have done far better, but unfortunately he has no personality to speak of and a gormless look about him. If he had Lesnar's intensity he could have been a star, but he just doesn't have it.

He's the Shelton Benjamin of the 2010's. They've tried several times and he's fine in the ring...he just doesn't have "it". Swagger > Shelton. And with Swagger they didn't try nearly as much. He should be one of the top guys in the midcard. You find me a match Swagger's ever put on as good as Shelton/HBK and I will defend the man's career.

The face turn/Rusev feud is the first time in forever that any effort was being put into the guy, and it was actually working just fine...until it became a forgone conclusion that he was fodder for Rusev and nothing else. He's not a great mic worker, we all know that, but he's a shitload more talented than he's being allowed to showcase. He's got the look, and he has a pretty solid moveset. I'm not saying he should be the WWE champion by any stretch, but he deserves a lot more than he's been given.

He's bored me for years. I guess the comparisons to Shelton make sense in that they both had terrible charisma but I got to say Shelton Benjamin was so much better in the ring.

He'd never been a face before. They finally gave it a shot, and it seemed to give him life. The crowd was getting behind him. Then he got jobbed out. Someone want to explain how exactly he stood a chance in that scenario?

Hope so. He brings nothing to the table and is a waste of a Zeb and a roster spot.

His face turn led to nothing except a string of defeats to Rusev and now he's losing in a (terrible) three minute match to Fandango, and the only reaction he gets is from the We the People chant. Is there any saving Swagger? Just have him do the "We the People" taunt that gets the fans excited then. I'm partially serious here. Not everyone can be a great all arounder like Shawn Michaels or Ric Flair. As long as he gets fans into the product he is having some measure of success. Rather than casting him off into irrelvency, Swagger could be used on lower card shows or even in NXT for some squash matches until WWE is ready to do something better with him. That way casuals are kept familiar with him while at the same time wanting more because all he would be doing is squashes. That being said WWE has never booked Swagger particularly well and I don't expect that to change.

The two reasons he was a hot babyface were for 1. The Catchphrase & 2. The guy who was managing him saying that catchphrase. It had nothing to do with the guy itself.
It's the Marc Mero example, you can't have a manager with a babyface, cause if the manager is more over than the babyface, it's pointless for the wrestler when it's time for him to go on his own.
You realized real quick that without Zeb, Swagger doesn't have a whole lot to give.

Out of the people that actually get TV time right now, he's the next one that's getting the axe. However long is left on his contract is how long he'll be in WWE. I can't imagine WWE seeing any value in him at this point. They took Zeb away from him, which really spells the end. He's got some talent but it's not just about talent. Swagger's always been missing something, and he never really improved after his initial adjustment to pro wrestling. Zeb had surgery recently. That's why he was written out.

To me it's a complete joke and a prime example of what's wrong with WWE. Swagger turned face and got really over against Rusev. They even gave him super protected losses. Once that was done, instead of keeping him strong and riding the overness, they booked him back into worthlessness. It's so counterproductive.

I liked Swagger a lot from the start. I really liked his ECW debut run. I liked his feud with Dreamer. I liked just about everything he had to offer. When he won the chamber I was stoked. I thought we were finally getting a good Swagger push. And then it never happened. He was thrown together in a tag team that actually caught on, but not with me. Ever since the The Real Americans tag team and Zeb I have been done with swagger. As someone who was a huge fan, I just can't even watch without rolling my eyes. Swagger is a guy who can do better somewhere else and will. And the sooner he's gone the sooner there is a spot for an nxt call up.
