Well there goes like half our HOF threads. I still have mine until they induct Kaufman.

As cheesy/corny as it sounds, this news brought a tear to my eye. Randy Savage was my hero when I was a kid, plain and simple. Sure, I loved Hogan, but Macho Man was just flat-out cool. It didn't matter whether he was good or bad guy, he was perfect in any role. It's outstanding to finally get to see him take his rightful place in the Hall of Fame.
It's a damn shame we won't get to hear the man himself give a speech, but the fact that it's still FINALLY happening is awesome news.
Macho Man is still the cream of the crop, and to this day, no one has done it better.

I really don't get the "It should've been done years ago, so I don't care." mindset. It's finally happening. Isn't that a good thing? It's cause he would have been alive to accept it himself and not some surrogate I agree it's still awesome tho

I guarantee the main reason for this is Austin publicly questioning Vince about it on his podcast. I'm glad he did, I loved seeing Vince squirm on that question. Well overdue induction and its a damn shame he won't be there to accept. We have all been deprived of one helluva acceptance speech.

That'll be everyone from the notable exceptions list inducted won't it? Who's left? Ivan Koloff. He ended Bruno's reign for crying out loud.

What couldn't Randy Savage do?
One of the best faces there's ever been. One of the best heels there's ever been. Legendary promo, iconic look, great matches that encompassed every style you could think of; technical, high-flying, mat-wrestling, brawling.
As an all-round performer, in my book, Randy Savage is the greatest of all time.

The only thing that would've made this better was if Randy was alive to receive the honor. Still, better late than never.

As far as I'm concerned, he was always in the Hall of Fame, whether the petulant idiots officially inducted him or not.

For many of us who grew up watching Savage, the HoF was the only logical place that we would see him on WWE television again. Now that he has long passed, all this seems extremely underwhelming. I'm happy it's finally happening since a WWE produced celebration of his career will surely be quality. Still, the fact remains that The Genius will be the only one (presumably) speaking about someone who I consider one of the top 5 wrestlers of all time. That doesn't feel right. And Vince deserves to be critiqued for not getting this done while he was alive. He truly robbed us of what would have been an all time great moment in wrestling history.

At this point it's a posthumous induction, which just by it's very nature will never be as interesting because anything you hear about the person's career will be secondhand.

in a shocking twist, WWE announced Randy Savage for the Hall of Pain instead. Mark Henry then gave the World's Strongest Slam to a coffin that said "Macho Man" on it, which is odd since he was cremated. Vince McMahon then ran out and screamed "NEVER MENTION HIM AGAIN!" before ending Raw 2 hours and 50 minutes early.

OH THANK GOD FINALLY. Should have happened YEARS ago, but this is still well deserved. The Genius still around? He's the only person outside of Hogan that would make sense to induct him Lanny will accept, most likely. Hogan could induct him, but with their history who knows if that's what Lanny and the family may want. in a shocking twist, WWE announced Randy Savage for the Hall of Pain instead. I really don't get the "It should've been done years ago, so I don't care." mindset. It's finally happening. Isn't that a good thing? It's already been said, but a posthumous induction could have been prevented had they inducted him sooner. Eddie didn't need to go in immediately. Shawn Michaels didn't need to go in immediately. Ric Flair didn't need to go in when he did. Hell, I'd even say Austin could have waited a few years. Again, WWE has a tendency to let people cut in line because they're now retired and they get the fastpass to the HOF due to "loyalty". Macho Man Randy Savage didn't have any direct contact with WWE for over 15 years. He was constantly passed over in terms of the legacy he brought to the company, despite being the quintessential guy who paved the way for a Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels. Look at the "Stars of the 80's" DVD that WWE put out. That was the first noticable product where I realized they were intentionally avoiding using him. And this went on for several more years before finally getting his own DVD which he wasn't personally involved with. To me, an induction would have been a nice way of showing him that WWE and the fans still care about him. Now it's just putting a guy in without real substance because he can't be a part of it. It's like throwing a birthday party for someone who isn't there.

I really don't get the "It should've been done years ago, so I don't care." mindset. It's finally happening. Isn't that a good thing? What's hard to understand about it? People wanted to see Randy Savage accept the honor in person.
