If it is retirement, I'm fine with that. Although, it'd be hard to listen and watch It's like Edge's retirement all over again.

Hoping for the best but expecting the worst. I'm gonna be so bummed out if it's retirement.

Please let it be the first thing on the show so i don't have to sit through hours and hours of bullshit, drink a 2 litre 7up then wake up tomorrow tired and filthy wondering why I still make these mistakes aged 27

This is one of those things that, because it's wrestling and wrestlers can sometimes be the biggest assholes in popular culture, seems like it'll be a retirement speech but be some kind of 'I'VE MADE A FULL RECOVERY' thing.
At the same time, I'll be depressed if I wake up tomorrow to find that Daniel Bryan has retired even though I'd rather he be happy and not in a wheelchair then in the ring.

With the "I look forward to telling you" I don't think it's negative.

I agree with everybody who's saying that him saying "looking forward to it," doesn't' seem negative. But, you never know. I just hope he's not retiring because, like someone else said, him returning is probably the only thing keeping me from losing complete interest of the company.

If he's retiring then I'll accept it because his health is the #1 thing here, that goes above all. He main evented WM31 and defeated Evolution alone, defeated the Shield, destroyed Kane repeatedly, Bryan did it all. His high is amazing.
But....I get a feeling he'll give us a return date. Why? Well it's the last Raw of the year. What better way to end it than giving us a return date. Kinda weird but that's me.

With the "I look forward to telling you" I don't think it's negative. It could just as easily be a, "I want to get this off my chest," thing, though. I'm not figuring it is retirement but my mind can't help but go there. I'm figuring it's either he's announcing he's entering the Rumble or he's announcing he's going ahead with the surgery and will be out longer. That or he announces that then shows up as a surprise in the Rumble anyway.

He's about to HBK 96 everyone. Tease retirement only to announce his entry into the Rumble and go on to win the thing.

Don't overestimate WWE. Would they announce that Daniel Bryan, their most over guy in 2013-2014, is retiring on a meaningless holidays edition of Monday Night RAW?
You bet.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FANS!
HAVE A SHITTY NEW YEAR!

Obviously I hope he doesn't have to retire. It could be a crossroads about deciding to do another surgery or taking even more time off to get better.

Not one single person I know of who has announced their retirement from the world of sports has ever said anything like that. At least, not the ones who absolutely didn't ever want to leave before they reached an age limit or something like that. Whatever Bryan's announcement is, it's probably related to when he should be back in the ring.

He's clearly going to tell Cena that his rematch clause trumps his number one contendership so it's now Bryan winning the title at the rumble.
Setting up a Cena heel turn when he brings back The Authority to win his title match against Bryan at WM.
