Im always a bit scared of flying and so every time I fly between northern and southern Europe I always adopt the same routine.
When I get to the airport I pretend that I'm a WWE wrestler on the grind, travelling from show to show (and thankfully noone has recognised me) as I will be travelling to a different city multiple times in a week.
Why do I do this? Because I know that real life wrestlers are on aeroplanes a lot and they seem to be fine so far (touch wood).
How often do wrestlers fly by plane? Do they travel by car if its only a few hundred miles?

It depends a lot on if they are in WWE, guys who primarily perform in an area, or people who are journeymen and perform all over the place.
The wrestlers often travel by rental car in WWE, but I imagine flying is more likely in many cases where indie guys would road trip, because WWE, time is a huge factor. Plus, on international tours, wrestlers in WWE travel by bus at times, all together.
Someone like Cena is going to be flying a hell of a lot more often than Tracy Smothers, but he might be doing it more than some of the PWG guys who may primarily be staying in the California area.
