Due to an out of the ordinary ratings pattern, Raw fell to 3.47 million viewers, among its lowest figures since 1997, on Monday.
What was strange is that the show started terribly low, and showed great growth, the opposite of the usual pattern.
It was also the first Monday without NFL competition, so the rating should have been way up from prior weeks. There was college football on ESPN, but that drew 5.76 million viewers, less than half of what a typical NFL Monday game does.
The three hours were:
8 p.m. 3.17 million viewers
9 p.m. 3.48 million viewers
10 p.m. 3.73 million viewers

Something something Bryan's fault, right? That's the joke we always make in ratings threads whenever it's low, regardless of the fact his segment was in the highest rated third of the show.

I'm one of 600,000 who skipped the first hour and came in after it, so there's that. I only decided to do that for Bryan, wonder if anyone else did the same.

Was there anything airing that could have caused that big of a tanking in the first hour? I know the show has been, in my mind, pretty bad lately, but when they're barely clearing 3 million for hour 1, that's...that's almost uncharted territory for them.

Most of the ratings lately have just been pitiful. I'm honestly inclined to believe the big boost was mostly from the Bryan thing, and people are just tuning out because the show's possibly never been as directionless and repetitive as it's been the past few months.

I believe everything on network tv was a rerun and besides the football game I'm not seeing anything on cable that did a big number. I'm curious to see what the rating is, it might be a case of fewer people watching tv on Monday.

Losing the States of Texas and Arky for the Bowl game.

I'm surprised most shows don't have a pattern like this
You'd think a good portion of the audience knows the first 10-20 minutes of the show is the most skippable part.

A good show, deserved it. I'm glad I watched (had the week off and had to watch after reading on here the Authority were back)
Last night was f***ing awesome, they strapped a rocket to rybacks ass and let him fly to the moon and he delivered, Cesaro showed some personality clearly with some worked in feelings about Vinces comment in his promo and because he was being himself dialled up and not playing a character which is beyond his skills he actually came across really f***ing well, I'm more interested in him than I have been since Mania, its like that promo has hopefully started a new direction for Cesaro that will make people forget that awful post mania period.
They let people talk and get their characters over, and most of them delivered. hopefully it wasn't a one off, hopefully we get more of this.
I even liked the Ascension's promo, I have a feeling they will play the Ascention in a sort of tounge in cheek self deprecating parody ironic way like they seem to with alot of the gimmicky tag teams, I do like how the tag team division has basically become full of all the wacky characters and fast paced action, it basically serves the same purpose the cruserweight division did in WCW, colourful, fast paced exciting matches with bodies flying everywhere to open the show.
Also that ending with smug steph and trips was TV f***ing gold, I'm glad the best heels in the company are back because it always leads in them getting someone over and also cutting unreal promos that piss people the f*** off.
Bryans segment was f***ing awesome too, nice booking to give a big huge pop, then dampen the mood to create heat (and therefore moaning and chatter which will hopefully translate to viewers)

Really starting to think that there's no rhyme or reason to ratings week-to-week as I thought Raw this week was solid and there's been far worse episodes to get higher ratings.

Maybe more people are taking my advice and only watching PPVs. You will enjoy the product a lot more if you do.

A variety show where very little ever happens and there are no consequences to anything that does.
Logically, ratings should be tanking, but they are still going strong with 3+ million, which is remarkable to me. There are wrestling fans in this country that would watch paint dry for 3 hours if it had the WWE logo underneath it.

Look at Smackdown for a show people claim that they don't watch it still gets around 3 million people every week

You can get a feel for Raw in the first 2 segments. By then you generally know if it's likely to be worth sticking around. Usually it isn't.

Really starting to think that there's no rhyme or reason to ratings week-to-week as I thought Raw this week was solid and there's been far worse episodes to get higher ratings. it was probably the viewers were expecting another bad RAW which couldn't be further from the truth as it was a good RAW with some character development and in some cases storyline development

I'll be interested in seeing how next week's show does after the debacle that was the ending of Raw. To be honest this is really how the ratings pattern should go down. At this point I'm just DVRing the first part of the show, watching whatever else (CSI from Sunday, etc.) and then starting Raw at 8:45 or so. I can catch up to live action by 9:40 or so.

If the Authority is back the writing and booking will be a lot tighter. At the post-production meeting of next Monday's Raw:
"See Vince, we don't like being on TV every week but it's just better if we are."
Poor, nonsensical finishes and booking will suspiciously either disappear or dramatically reduce as with the Authority back on TV two of the three senior people in charge of creative direction no longer have the need to make their absence from television look so detrimental.
Given the history of the people in question, ensuring that the product thrived in their absence probably wasn't their sole motivation. Now if they're back - making sure the product looks good as a result of their on-air involvement will be a priority.

Well you never know when a new stable might debut and splash the wrong colored paint on the wall. Or SWERVE...the whole time you've been drying while the paint watches you.

Everytime I hear the Monday Night Football excuse I roll my eyes. TV remotes in people's houses don't just have Football and wrestling buttons.
People aren't watching simply because they don't want to see what we put ourselves through every monday. That's like one of us blaming MNF because no one "liked" their post.
