I apologize if this has been answered but what is the advantage/disadvantage of an under inflated ball? It is easier to grip an under-inflated ball. This means both more control when passing the ball and reduced odds of fumbling the ball, which is key when it is slick from rain. It is also a less lively ball. This means that if you are running with the ball and a defender strikes at the ball, it is less likely to try to bounce out of your hand. It is also less likely to bounce off of your hands when you are trying to catch it. I apologize if this has been answered but what is the advantage/disadvantage of an under inflated ball? The advantage is that it's easier to catch while the disadvantage is that it's harder to throw. It's essentially the football version of baseball's pine tar rule. I see, thanks. I've been hearing about it on sports radio but I didn't hear any explanation other than cheating.

This F***ing blows.
This has been a spectacular season. After a rough start, the Patriots dominated this season. They beat every top team (except Green Bay) they faced. Tom Brady proved that he's still one of the best in the game. Gronk has simply been unreal. Dont'a Hightower & Jamie Collins made huge strides this season and along with Revis & Browner turned this defense into the best I've seen since the Super Bowl winning teams.
Right now we (Pats fans) should be enjoying the next two weeks. Reveling in the glory of the season and speculating about how they can beat Seattle.
But no. Because the Patriots had to push the rules and play with deflated footballs for one game. They didn't need to and the advantage was miniminal at best, but it doesn't matter now. Now the narrative is simply going to f'n deflategate.
If the Patriots did deflate those footballs they should be punished. Fine them, take away a draft pick whatever. But nothing's worse than having the joy sucked out of these next two weeks.

Yeah, I remember when the Colts played the Steelers in the playoffs and the refs overturned an obvious INT by Polomanu that was made even more obvious by the same replay footage the refs used to overturn it. I was so mortified that my team might win because of that call that I was actually relieved when they Manning'ed and lost the game. I did not want to have to spend the next week thinking about how the Steelers were robbed by my team.

I'm angry because they didn't need to do this. But because they did now I have to listen to people try to discredit everything the Patriots accomplished in the past.

After that horrible outing against the Islanders yesterday, I'm glad my Flyers pulled it off against the Pens. I get to taunt my sister about it.
