Thanks for that bit of rationality; the Lions gave em all they can handle, they've got a good team.
The thing I find irritating about the whole 'refs screwed em' thing, is as I mentioned before--Lions still had the lead with the majority of the fourth quarter to go. Hell, they got the ball back TWICE in two minutes; and if you reversed the score and situation, if Dallas has the game slip away in the final minutes no one's talking about the terrible call that happened with eight minutes remaining. If that happens, the entire narrative is "Cowboys choke again."
You put the ball in Romo's hand and there's a fumble twice in two minutes to ice the game, no one's talking a PI call. Everyone's crowing about 'lol Vintage Romo!'

After sleeping on it, I still think it was an awful call that did have a big impact on the game.
That said, Detroit had plenty of chances to put the game away and they didnt. They also could have stopped Dallas and they didn't do that either.

Right. It certainly was a terrible call; I'm sure it probably affected Detroit's psyche. They still fell apart on their own. Their defense that was holding Dallas in check all day folded, and the offense didn't do a damn thing the entire second half.
Hell, Megatron was playing more like Starscream.

Well, yeah the psyche is an issue, but also if the flag stood Detroit would have had the ball around the Dallas 30 or so. *If* Detroit played it right, more time would have been taken off and they also more than likely comes away with something on the scoreboard. But the point stands that it *was* more than the officials that did the Lions in. I just hate that a pretty damn good game (in a weekend full of bad games) was marred by a controversial call

Detroit probably could have stopped the final drive if not for multiple blatant ass holding calls ignored. Sun and Ansah both got held on the final TD, but not a peep is being said there.

Look at this rate, I am thoroughly convinced Jerry Jones sold his soul for the Cowboys to have an improbable run this Season
And if they win the Superbowl, Jerry is going to walk on the field and a Void of Fire is going to open up, and swallow him whole, and he will never be seen again.

I'm surprised how many people are picking the Ravens over the Pats, and I'm a Ravens fan.
It's more likely the horrible secondary and sluggish offense will show up then the fantastic performance of Saturday night being repeated.
Also it's worth noting that whenever the Ravens have faced the Patriots in the postseason the last few years, they'd also met earlier in the regular season. They didn't this season, which means they won't be as prepared as they have been in the past.

Ravens @ Patriots 4:30 Panthers @ Seahawks 8:30 Dallas @ Green Bay 1:30 Indy @ Denver 4:30 All four games on Fox & CBS next week, or do ESPN & NBC get a game again? Surprised at the times of the games. Figured the Patriots and Cowboys would get the late games on their days

So, I get the line of thinking. However, people gloss over the fact that the Patriots are healthier and have a much stronger defense than they've had in years. Conversely, this years Ravens are NOT the Ravens of 09 and 13. The secondary is weak, and offensively, they don't have the same punch. Am I saying Baltimore has no chance? Of course not. But, the Patriots should be able to beat them at home.

As for the Lions game, why wasn't Dez Bryant immediately hit with a 15 yard penalty after the PI call for running out onto the field without a helmet to argue the call with the ref?

Why do people keep bringing up the helmet part? Unless he's the punt returner and maybe was coming out for a change of personal while they were talking he shouldn't be that far on the field anyway?

Why do people keep bringing up the helmet part? Unless he's the punt returner and maybe was coming out for a change of personal while they were talking he shouldn't be that far on the field anyway? They bring that up because that ALWAYS gets a flag. It's actually written in the rules that unless your helmet was knocked off being on the field of play without a helmet requires a mandatory 15 yd penalty. Not only that, but every other time someone runs on field from the bench to argue with a ref would get a penalty. In other words, he did two separate things that should have cost the Cowboys 15 yards but the refs let him off the hook.

I'm amazed at how many people think the Ravens are going to win on Saturday evening because "they have the Patriots' number" or "they give the Patriots fits".
What do playoff wins from five and two years ago have to do with the game on Saturday? Is Ray Rice going to break off another 80-plus-yard run to start the game? Is Anquan Boldin going to dominate Marquice Cole? Is Aaron Hernandez going to lead the Patriots in receptions? Is an injury to Wes Welker going to prove costly? Is Billy Cundiff going to shank a chip-shot field goal? Is Lee Evans going to drop a crucial touchdown reception because Sterling Moore swatted it away?
The reason I am concerned about Baltimore is because of their pass rush against the Patriots' offensive line. If Dan Connolly is at full health and the offensive line is back to where it was prior to Connolly's injury, that will be the biggest deciding factor, not some bullcrap about the Ravens coming into Gillette Stadium in 2010 and throttling the Patriots.
If the Patriots can neutralize the Ravens' pass rush and give Tom Brady time in the pocket, the Patriots should win. But if the Ravens can consistently get in Brady's face and make life miserable for him, I like Baltimore's chances.

AFC Divisonal Round:
Ravens @ New England:
The Ravens are historically a tough match up for the Patriots. The 2 teams have met in Foxborough 3 of the last 5 post seasons with Baltimore 2 of those meetings. The Ravens D-line is still damn good, with the secondary being the clear weakness. Their offense is Jeckel and Hyde, though. Meanwhile, the Patriots boast the best defense and best overall health (GRONK!) they've had in quite a few Januarys.
Baltmore needs to be damn near perfect to win, and I just don't see it happening. This will be a tough game, but I think New England gets some revenge for 2013.
Patriots 27 Ravens 17
Indy @ Denver: Manning vs his old team and the man that replaced him. Luck looks to take the torch as one of the elite. This one should be an old west shootout. I don't expect much defense here. If Manning isn't able to play better than he has the last half dozen games, Denver is in real trouble. Indy needs to be at their absolute best here. Who wins? Well, I've changed my mind twice since I started typing this. I smell upset.
Indy: 34 Denver: 30
NFC Divisional Round:
Carolina @ Seattle: Seattle is well rested and this one will be at home, where they're a monster. Carolina beat a QB-less, beaten up Arizona team at home, and looked mediocre doing it. This one should be a slaughter.
Seattle 31 Carolina 10
Dallas @ Green Bay: The Packers have been damn near perfect at home, and their offense has been firing on all cylanders for most of the season. Dallas has looked like a powerhouse and have played perfect on the road. Should be an offensive battle. I'm taking the home team here.
Green Bay 34 Dallas 24

Ravens over Patriots (I'll never root for the Pats so let's go Baltimore)
Green Bay over Dallas (Don't really care for either team but I'd take Rodgers over Romo any day of the week)
Colts over Broncos (If Payton starts playing like his old self then the Broncos will win but I don't think that will happen)
Seattle over Carolina (One of these teams shouldn't even be in the playoffs)

While I didn't agree with picking up the flag, the Lions had plenty of chances to put the game away. That one call didn't screw them. From a lifelong Lions fan, Congrats to Dallas, and their fans. To be honest, I still thought Dallas was gonna lose. After that double fumble fiasco, I was like, "Oh God! It's a sign! We're totally screwed!"
