Like mentioned, it's similar to Mankind.
Also it's a way that Ambrose can be elevated in the future when he's in the title scene. Ambrose can say that he's only been focused on destroying opponents but now he's focused on winning as well. At that moment, Ambrose will become more of a threat. They'll hype up how dangerous he'll be now that he'll want to win matches.
Smart booking really.

It is a bit baffling how he's losing all his matches, but! Somehow I have hope and they'll turn it all around sometime.

I think that's supposed to be the idea, and that's fine at times like Survivor Series. But for the most part, even when he's losing matches he's not getting any actual revenge afterward. True. I think there's a bit of a short attention span thing here as well. He left Rollins alone because Wyatt screwed him over... (SD spoiler following) {Spoiler}{Spoiler}And now after being beaten by Wyatt he's now helping out Reigns against Rollins and Big Show. {Spoiler}I just kind of assumed they're on good terms, even if they went their own way without their missing piece. |

Let's be honest. There's no reason he even should be that worried about winning matches. Its WWE.
When has winning a lot of matches really led to anything?
Conversely, losing matches gets your more attention.
