If this is true, I wonder what happened? Did USA just decide they DIDN'T want a gay wrestler? Seems like if they were so keen on the idea, they would revisit it now that they have an actual gay guy on roster. USA saw WWE's past attempts at gay characters and they were like "Oh Hell No"

God, imagine heel, homophobic Michael Cole. I don't think we have to imagine that hard.... {Spoiler} I know it's childish and some think it's a bit insensitive, but I'd love to see more idiotic heel work like this.

They should've had him hook up with Ryback.

You know it could've worked. I see nothing wrong with a young handsome athletic MMA-styled badass who happens to be gay. If Bryan actually were gay he would've Made a great positive role model for gay youth. Do you really think that WWE would be able to portray "happens to be gay" though? It would be a perfectly reasonable character, but WWE doesn't really work in "perfectly reasonable". Bryan would be wearing leather chaps, pseudo biker gear, shades and dangly earrings within the month.

That was who I was referencing yes. Not sure what you meant about anything changing though, I was just pointing out that it's totally impossible for WWE to be subtle or to add any layers to a character that aren't necessary for the story being told.

Well I do remember someone asking him want he wanted his WWE theme to be back when he first got on twitter. His answer:

I think one of the reasons wrestling gay gimmicks tend to come out as flamboyant as possible, while certainly likely in large part due to stereotypes, is just because, "This guy's gay," isn't much of a gimmick otherwise. Like, yeah, you can do the storyline of them fighting off someone who disapproves, but after that, it's either something that never really comes up or it's something that comes out like a bad sitcom where the person's entire role in the plot is constantly interrupting conversations to say, "Hey, did you guys know I like boys?"

NEW. BOOM. PERIOD. I don't think HG's wrestled in like 5 years. It's a shame. His aura really reminded me of El Generico's at times. Just the charisma and way the fans took to him. Dino's still active though... He might just be gay enough.

I'd just like to point out that the guy who tweeted this (former writer) said that he can't believe how gullible news sites are to take a joke of his and report it like it was an actual piece of news.
AKA it's not true.

Man, here I was going (and posting) under the assumption that this was a complete joke thread. Apologies.
Yeah, not true.

AKA it's not true. Did anyone actually believe it was? Honestly, I did- simply because of the timing. If they said it at any other storyline, it'd be seen as a load of crap- but, if you look back at that exact storyline, it really would have explained SO MUCH about the angle if it was looked at as "Bryan was supposed to come out as the payoff for the Bella Twins angle, but someone got cold feet at the last minute". It would have probably made sense (and if any straight wrestler came out as the payoff to an angle, then Daniel Bryan may have been the only wrestler on the planet with enough street cred to pull that storyline off and get more over from it.)
