LOLJAYWINS?
Seriously though, it's a good way to build up their world champ. Plus, I suppose Mark's taken a fair few pins for him.

I've always considered the Briscoes the Cenas of ROH. I found it hilarious that back in '07 when every smark was going "CENAWINSLOL" The Briscoes probably lost 2 tag matches that entire year.

There was a small but growing backlash against them in 2007 for how one-sided the Steenerico feud was, but yeah, they've been treated very well by virtue of never being able to leave.

Fantastic booking. I didn't even realize that Jay hadn't been pinned in close to two years before he mentioned it in a promo right before he won the ROH World title back. That's how you do it. It was subtle but very effective. Now, it's gonna be a big deal whenever he gets beat and drops the title.

It's a possibility for sure but I'm not sure how that'd work with his extensive NJPW schedule. Personally, I think Ciampa is gonna win it in late Spring/early Summer.

Personally, I think Ciampa is gonna win it in late Spring/early Summer. AJ only works the PPV shows and events like The G1 and Tag League for NJPW. That leaves him time to do shows with ROH and other promotions as well.

AJ was supposed to face Jay at both Final Battle and the Anniversary show but his NJPW commitments stopped it. Cannot help but wonder if they go in a different direction now, maybe Ciampa gets it after a red bump and now Nigel cannot fire him so he throws everything and everyone at him to get the title off.

that would be interesting. a heel authority figure has rarely been seen in wrestling, especially in Ring of Honor...

I dunno man, I'm good, but I don't know if I'm 800 days worth of good. Oh, you meant Styles. Right. Of course.

AJ is working the Anniversary show so whatever the reason is, it isn't because of his NJPW schedule.

There was a small but growing backlash against them in 2007 for how one-sided the Steenerico feud was... there wasn't a backlash in 2007, nor was the feud one-sided. once the feud actually began in April (Steen & Generico had a tryout match against the Briscoes in February), there were a total of nine matches, only four of which were won by the Briscoes. the backlash against the Briscoes started in 2008 with them still being pushed so hard despite Mark's repeated injuries.

Not to be a spoil sport, but I don't think that 800+ days number is accurate.
He was pinned by Bobby Fish in the tag match the Briscoes had with reDRagon at the 11th anniversary show in 2013.
That's still 692 days and super impressive.
It also makes me really, really want a Bobby Fish - Jay Briscoe program.

AJ winning would be cool but I'd prefer Ciampa get the bump from pinning Jay. Ciampa's ready, brother!

Ugh. The one thing that's preventing me from being fully on board with ROH.

I know I should separate the person from the character but I can't. The remarks Jay made a few years ago were disgusting and I hate that he's the face of ROH.
He's really talented but I just don't like the guy and unfortunately that prevents me from enjoying his matches.

I hope ACH is the one who pins him.
