I know I should separate the person from the character but I can't. The remarks Jay made a few years ago were disgusting and I hate that he's the face of ROH. He's really talented but I just don't like the guy and unfortunately that prevents me from enjoying his matches. When a character is as close to the actual person as Jay Briscoe's is, I can understand how hard it can be to separate them.

There was a small but growing backlash against them in 2007 for how one-sided the Steenerico feud was... there wasn't a backlash in 2007, nor was the feud one-sided. once the feud actually began in April (Steen & Generico had a tryout match against the Briscoes in February), there were a total of nine matches, only four of which were won by the Briscoes. the backlash against the Briscoes started in 2008 with them still being pushed so hard despite Mark's repeated injuries. Well I don't know that it wasn't one sided, they literally got one clean victory in their entire feud. But that's just the Briscoes in general anything anyone gets over them, the Briscoes will get their win back and , make the win the other side got completely and utterly irrelevant anyway. Take for instance the Kingdom feud. Adam Cole becomes ROH world champion after Jay Briscoe's "stellar" reign as world champion, and immediately gets over as top heel by superkicking Jay Briscoe after he handed the belt over. Of course this leads to Jay Briscoe burying Adam Cole's reign at every turn calling it a fake world title reign and making his own ugly as all f*** title belt. They eventually have a ladder war where Adam wins from the outside interference. I understand them not leaving it there, so the No DQ match at BITW was justified. But they can't just leave it there, once Jay got the belt back they couldn't leave it there either though could they? No they had to have Cole fight him again and be defeated. But they cant leave it THERE, because there's still one tiny thing they have on him the fact that they still have the ugly f***ing belt of his, which knowing how Briscoe feuds go he will inevitably get back.

I don't remember any 2007 backlash on the Briscoes. They were killing it in 2007, and we're the ROH "MVP" for that year.

I'm hoping for Silas Young to return at the PPV and take the belt sometime over the summer.
I also think Jay Briscoe will be the first three time champ as a huge thank you from RoH.

I hope ACH is the one who pins him. Way too far down the ladder. They are having trouble pushing Cedric after beating Roderick. In many ways ROH has trouble pushing black wrestlers except Jay Lethal and he is probably only getting pushed because of his time in the company and on national tv

Was The Cibernetico Rises his last loss or did something happen after?

Briscoes are the reason I can't watch RoH. I'm not crazy about their personal beliefs and I really dislike their whole persona in wrestling. I'm also not actually that impressed with their wrestling, either. It's everything I dislike about the indy style.

Don't mind Mark, but can't stand Jay for his homophobic beliefs. To my knowledge, Mark has never made a statement like that.

It's impressive but like a lot of you I don't like Jay Briscoe. Never been overly impressed by his ROH work and I disagree with his personal beliefs on gays entirely.

I don't really care about the homophobia, everyone has the right to believe whatever it is they want to believe and say what they want to say, everyone loves free speech until someone actually uses it.
I just think he's been pushed way too strongly.

Doesn't mean we have to like his opinion or overlook the fact that he discriminates against people based on their sexuality.

It's amazing how seemingly everyone who plays the free speech card has no understanding of the First Amendment. It protects you from the government and only the government. You can say (almost) anything you want and not get arrested, but that means other people have the freedom to call you out on your BS. Freedom of Speech is a two way street.

I wasn't saying you couldn't rebut what he said at all, what I said didn't even remotely imply that you couldn't. I never said you had to like him, I really don't either, I'm just saying my opinion is that his personal beliefs shouldn't really factor into your perception of him as a performer.

Well unfortunately that's how it works for some people. It's why some people (myself included) struggle to watch a Chris Benoit match but honestly that's another discussion for another day.

He forced everyone to factor in his personal beliefs when he decided to share said beliefs multiple times on twitter. If you support Jay Briscoe the performer or his employer(s) in any way, you're supporting Jay Briscoe the person. Obviously it's easy to see why some people wouldn't be thrilled with that.

Except he threatened to shoot anybody who would teach his kids that being gay is ok. Honestly that's the part where I felt he crossed the line, but everybody is pointing out just the part that he doesn't like gay people, if people were emphasizing the "I'll shoot you" thing I'd understand it but to be truthful the big issue I had with it was him saying you're not allowed to believe different than me. People are allowed to agree disagree or what have you, but people's issue with Jay isn't the second part of it, it's the first part of he doesn't like gay people. Homosexuality is an issue that I really couldn't care less about, if people want to live that way that's just fine and dandy, but anybody who says they don't agree gets their throat jumped down and it's automatically assumed that they hate Gay's. Now in Jay's case that was proven to be true by what he said afterwards but generally, even if they're not being overly derogatory everyone hates them over. Really to me this should be as much of an issue as what kind of shoe you like to wear, but everyone has had to turn it into this gigantic issue of if you disagree you hate them.
