I disagree on Jack Nicholson. That's him playing himself dressed as an evil clown.

Duh, I forgot Chris Pratt as Star Lord. I doubted the choice at 1st but he totally won me over in the role.

Ed Norton was a terrific Bruce Banner while Ruffalo is mediocre. Ian McKellen is great as Magneto

I'm kinda surprised nobody has mentioned Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier. Look about half a dozen or so posts above yours. I'm not basing this on how close they are to the comic book because I've never read one but I have to go with Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Terence Stamp as General Zod.

There has never been a better cast superhero than Christopher Reeve as Superman, nor do I think there every will be. He embodied that character and truly made you believe he WAS Superman. The way he carried himself, his manner of speak, the kindness in his eyes. He was Superman. He also somehow managed to make a pair of glasses and a slicked down hairstyle a believable disguise by making Clark a completely different character. As villains go, I'm going with the OP and counting J. Jonah Jameson as a villain. J.K. Simmons brought that character to life in such a way it was almost scary. As if someone used some kind of magic to rip him from the pages of Spider-Man and turn him into a living breathing person. Now, as straight-up villains go, no one can touch Jack Nicholson as The Joker as far as I'm concerned. A lot of his detractors will claim it was just "Jack playing Jack", which is absolutely false if you've ever seen Jack Nicholson as himself. The man is very calm, very serious, and very still. His Joker was manic, and full of glee with everything he did. Ledger was a great movie villain, but he didn't embody that joy of evil the way Nicholson did. I wouldn't say JJJ was a villain in the movies. More of a dick. Like he refused to give up Peter Parker's identity to the Green Goblin.

Plus he did have Eddie Brock fired for fabricating a fake story, even if said story made Spider-Man look like a bad guy.

Wesley Snipes as Blade was great. I was one of the few who enjoyed Blade the Series, and Kirk Jones was serviceable for that, but Snipes personified the attitude of the written and drawn character well.

Chris Evans as both Captain America and Human Torch. The only highlight in terrible FF movies, his Johnny Storm is the quintessential portrayal of the character for me. Michael Chiklis was fantastic (pun not intended) as The Thing. Of course they didn't surround Evans and Chiklis with much else.

I actually think Ioan Gruffudd was good as Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba was just a poor choice for a love interest for him.

Frank Gorshin as the Riddler. Thank you. That was my first thought, followed by Snipes as Blade. Gorshin is just the best though.
