It's weird to me that heel vs heel matches are so rarely done, yet they always end up being pretty damn good in my opinion.
What are some of your favorite heel vs heel matches.
My all time favorite would have to be Bryan Danielson vs Alex Shelley in ROH for the title.

It also risks fans not particularly caring about the outcome. So, it makes sense that the ones you can recall end up good, because people don't go with it unless they think it will succeed in spite of the drawbacks, you know?

Austin Aries had a fun X-Division title defense vs. Kid Kash at a TNA PPV.
It was just non-stop cheating, shortcuts and good ol' heel tactics from both guys.

Christopher Daniels vs Petey Williams - NS 2005
Host of G1 matches since they have guys mixed up. I really liked AJ Styles vs Lance Hoyt from last year's. Probably best Hoyt match i've ever seen.

Outsiders vs. Faces of Fear were good pairings, but Meng and Barbarian deserved more respect.

Edge vs Orton, RAW April 2007 was decent and should have happened at Mania 23.

I recall Austin and Vader were supposed to have a match on Raw in 1996 when they were both working heel, but I think it ended up being Austin vs. Mankind instead (still heel vs. heel). Would have loved to see that first match though.

My all time favorite would have to be Bryan Danielson vs Alex Shelley in ROH for the title. I actually preferred another heel vs. heel match that happened two weeks earlier in Bryan Danielson vs. Jimmy Rave.

Outsiders vs. Faces of Fear were good pairings, but Meng and Barbarian deserved more respect. The thing about that, is im certain the FOF were supposed to be Babyfaces in that match. But, the crowd was solidly behind Hall and Nash. So much so, that they worked Face for most of the contest. (Hall pulled out the old rally out of a hold, and make the hot tag, for sure.)
