I've been on a wwe moratorium since early last year.I keep tabs on it so if it looks interesting again I can pick back up, but everything I've been hearing since WM last year hasn't been enticing at all.
It usually goes in cycles. I'll watch for five years or so then take a break for 5-7 years until the landscape changes for the better.
This is similar to my situation. I have been "Done for now" since whenever it was Daniel Bryan was injured.
For a long time, only two guys were keeping me interested: CM Punk and Daniel Bryan.
Punk left a year ago. No one really knew what was happening until he finally spoke out. I'd accepted he was likely done around the time his contract expired. Until then, there was always a slim chance he could be convinced to come back somehow. But I still had Bryan and his apparent rise. Someone I was a fan of since I got into ROH circa 2007-ish. The booking decision at last year's rumble was idiotic, but they did something to try and put it right by Mania, so we got the result we should have had anyway. Then came the duff booking of taking the belt off him CONSTANTLY, then once he does win it "for real", he goes down hurt, with a big question mark on if he was going to be back. That was both of my main reasons for tuning in, gone, and nothing particularly appealing filling that gap.
3-hours of terrible programming a week I'll never get back , aka Raw, was such a chore to sit through that eventually, I just decided enough was enough and I knew there was other stuff I'd actually enjoy watching, not even wrestling. The lack of a chance to sit down & watch was also a factor, but the fact I was in no hurry to make the time told me I should step back.
Recently I decided that if I was going resume watching, that the Rumble to Mania season was the best time to do so. Then I started doubting that thinking that WWE caved in last year and gave us the outcome we called for, there was always the chance that this year they'd be even more stubborn and stick to their guns. Sounds like my fears were confirmed, because "Make Roman look strong", that they put Rock out there as well, sounds like they knew people weren't going to like it so they'd soften the blow by putting him out there. How about listening to what fans WANT? Isn't the whole point of selling PPVs to put on something people want to see? If they're not feeling it however you present it, then change it.
So I'm still "Done for now" but like many wrestlers who are retired, "never say never". Until I hear about something that suggest they're listening and changing, I remain "done" whilst keeping an eye here and a few other places, just in case.
