I know this is pre internet but I am legit curious if anyone here is old enough to remember. I imagine Bret fans just losing their minds.

Someone here will have the link, it's not as pre-internet as you think. Bitching about wrestling on-line has been going on since even before pornography came on-line. Someone will dig up the link for you on Herb or whatever who had a dealy were he hated everything about WWF.

Herb's tidbits are actually relatively silent on the issue, but there is this. - The current Observer poll on WrestleMania breaks down as follows: Thumbs up 11.0% Thumbs down 78.6% In the middle 10.5% Meltzer predicts it will have the lowest buy rate ever for a WrestlMania PPV.

I'll be damned. Well, I can't say I was a "smart" fan. I knew it was scripted, my parents made damn sure of that when I began watching at 6 and them not being fans and I am a huge Bret Hart fan, to the point I think he underestimates himself, but I loved the ending. I was 10, if that means anything to you.

I remember it being very negative across the board when it happened. A lot of people were growing tired of Hogan and were ready for some new blood at the top.

I know we don't/can't post WON recaps anymore...but does someone at least have Meltzer's recap of WM9?

Nice to see the IWC really hasn't changed.
I'm sure a lot of people over in the WWE section are making very similar posts. Just replace Hogan with "Roman"

I was 12 years old and I hated it, and I wasn't even a Bret fan. I just hated it because for me it was a continuation of Hogan's spotlight hogging ways after I had thought that I was finally done with him.

Even as a kid and a big Hogan fan, I didn't like it. It didn't make any sense to have Hogan just get a title shot and have him come out to help Hart who I don't remember ever seeing them interact before.
The KOTR finish was just as bad. Plus you had Hogan who disappeared to wrestle in Japan (I think) before KOTR.

I love seeing that the old school IWC were just like us (except with alot more talk of vomiting, must have been a 90s thing), its like seeing a photo of a group of friends from the 1800s who are all laughing and having a good time and it makes them more relatable to you.

*looks at language used.* Yep, it was the 90s. we're just missing a "NOT!" at the end of a sentence.
