What is TNA doing in the Impact Zone, Taz? "Be quiet Josh, security might hear you."

I think it's the right thing to do to have tapings at the Impact Zone and at smaller venues like the Hammerstein Ballroom.
Their product was not ready for some of the arenas they held their shows at after leaving the Impact Zone the first time. I get "no risk, no reward" but if your audience just isn't big enough to fill some of those arenas you want to hold events at, then you swallow your pride and don't go for the sake of your long-term business.
Although I don't think the phrase "long-term" is something that Dixie Carter has even heard of.

Also I want to protest Josh & Taz from ever using that line again. If you're not in the Impact Zone, you shouldn't be questioning why someone is in the Impact zone.

They just need to stay in the damn Impact Zone. I know we were all clamoring for them to get out, but they still looked more legit with the permanent setup in the Impact Zone than they have for pretty much the past two or three years. Honestly, I think TNA should do SOME touring. Maybe not national, but keeping it to the Southeastern states and doing their "big" shows in places like the Manhattan Center, Hammerstein, ECW Arena, etc. Also, Impact Zone or no Impact Zone, whether they look "legit" or not, I feel that it's more important for TNA to try to make it so that they can tape weekly rather than doing block tapings. The block tapings are a huge mess when it comes to things like Title changes and the like. I think if they run one show a week to tape for TV, they'd be set. My understanding doing from listening to interviews was that the original plan was to do something like that but certain people (Hogan, Bischoff, and Pritchard) convinced Dixie they had to go all in on full touring. Doesn't help that TNA did not advertise at all.

I like to imagine that at the time, TNA had enough money to follow one of two paths - Spend the money on advertising OR Spend the money going out on tour, and to pay the wages of Hogan, Bischoff and Brother Love. They chose the latter, because TNA.

They chose the latter, because TNA. AJ Styles mentioned in his shoot (as did Daniels and Kaz) that there were multiple times they would go to a gym and be recognized and fans would have no idea TNA was in town. Hell AJ said one time the receptionist at the hotel they were staying at recognized him and asked what he was doing in town and had no idea TNA was having a show when the arena was right across the street.

TNA's tours could have been successful with a proper marketing campaign. They were never going to get 10-15 thousand people a week like the WWE do but there were times they were doing 1500-2000 and they could have been doing way better in my opinion.
You have Hulk Hogan who is probably the biggest star in wrestling only really rivaled by The Rock and even then it's a push. They had Sting who had been a big star and was a huge star in the eyes of fans. Throw in Jeff Hardy and Kurt Angle who are recognizable as well and you have four guys who should have been doing every single media outlet possible in the days leading up to these shows. Hogan should have been on the local news talking about his career and putting over the show and the main event. Maybe you have Sting doing interviews and signings to promote the event. Maybe you have Angle and Hardy on the days tickets started going on sale signing items for ticket buyers. Anything to promote the event should have been done but it was rare to see anything except maybe Hogan doing the local radio and that was the issue.
If people don't know you're in town you're not going to draw. It's the reason why TNA House Shows don't draw. Putting a 10 second advertisement up during the TV show and putting it on your website isn't enough. You need the radio, the TV, newspaper etc to all get behind it and back in 2013 when they still had Hogan, Sting, Angle and Hardy they could have done it but they never went strong with the marketing.

They'll be at Soundstage 20 this time. The Impact Zone was Soundstage 21 and their last tapings at Universal were at Soundstage 19. What did that Soundstage 19 show look like? Anything like the ol' Impact Zone studio set?

Ugh. I have no qualms with them taping sometimes at the Impact Zone (or whichever Universal sound stage will serve as the Impact Zone), but it's become a crapshoot there: too many of their crowds there were absolutely asleep half the time the last few PPVs or live shows they've done there. Hopefully it'll be better this time.

Anything like the ol' Impact Zone studio set? Not that great really. They had their giant video screen and a tiny ramp, and maybe room for 200 people. The shows from AJ winning the title and most of Magnus's reign were at that studio.

I've always though that Impact should be at the Impact Zone and that PPV's should be in different venues. They did this for awhile and I liked it. Like have a regular recurring thing of Impact in Florida and PPV's in NYC or PA. The taping a billion months in advance is killer for trying not to read spoilers tho.
