I didn't watch impact this week but was watching something on one of the discovery channels earlier and saw that they were hyping the episode for next week. Is their anything wrong with them advertising the bump that i'm sure majority of us saw weeks ago? It's dangerous for Jeff to take falls like that on a "regular show" but I believe the reason for the bump was to get him out of the UK tour. Do you have a problem with them advertising the bump or is this business as usual?

I get the idea of having him take a huge bump for the sake of getting him out of the UK tour, but I see no point in advertising it.

Can't say I saw the ad but them advertising a bump wouldn't be something new for them. Sometimes #ithappens.....
Now if it's good business or not..<shrugs> honestly nothing they do anymore really surprises me. I'm more surprised when they just do something subtly.

I'm honestly torn, because if you're going to take a risk like this you may as well try to get ratings from it, but it's still something I hate to see on wrestling shows because I grew up with the idea that wrestling is live and watching a preview for the next week really takes away interest for me ... might not be the same for casual viewers, though, who are used to previews for the coming shows and that's what gets them hyped to tune in the next week.

TNA's already ran over the hitchhiker. They might as well go through his backpack.

I agree. If you're the marketing department when you see something like that, you're automatically going to want to showcase that. TNA/Impact as a whole should try to avoid bumps like that especially for the one man who's a proven draw (at least in WWE he was). I think DA is doing everything possible to showcase TNA.

I immediately thought it was stupid to put that in the ads and give away something that would be a huge shock. Then I later thought it was stupid to run an ad highlighting only that bump and freezing it before the actual bump to "not give away the ending" after they had already shown it in a previous ad. Then I later thought it was REALLY stupid to show a third ad where you see the bump three times in three seconds.

TNA has done this in the past, most notably #ITHAPPENS.
I wonder how many people actually watch without knowledge of the spoilers before hand, so they may figure letting people know that Jeff Hardy nearly kills himself might generate more viewers if it happens and only the Internet knows about it.

Should I be surprised? Should I?
Bullshit I should. It's not 1997 anymore. Big, stupid bumps like that should not be glorified and advertised in 2015. Not after everything that's happened to the people that used to take those kinds of bumps on a daily basis.
Then again, these are the same f****** that had a storyline where everybody on the show called someone who had a concussion a pussy and criticized the NFL.

Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson late in 2010. Anderson got a legit concussion off a botch chair spot by Jeff, and they turned that into a storyline with Matt Morgan quitting Immortal/Fortune to protect Anderson from being forced by Bischoff and Flair to compete with a concussion. In that storyline, Morgan was the only person to show any concern and everyone else called Anderson a pussy and made fun of the NFL for their concussion issues. Then, they retconned all of that and had Morgan kicking Anderson in the head constantly with the Carbon Footprint. Suddenly, out of nowhere Morgan no longer cared about Anderson's condition. It was so terribly and irresponsibly done. Usually, storyline in wrestling being screwed up and handled horribly don't piss me off because it's just a TV show. However, that really pushed it for me.

I don't remember Morgan ever 180ing on Anderson. I'm pretty sure that was a full blown face turn for Matt Morgan, which led to him leaving the Fortune/Immortal super-stable, if I remember that time period correctly. What it did contradict, was Morgan's previous feud with Hernandez, where he spent months brutalizing Hernandez, including spots where he would lay down Hernandez into the corner and Carbon Footprint his head into the ring post.

It wasn't a 180 in terms of a face/heel dynamic, it was a 180 in terms of motivation. I probably should have made that more clear. And yeah, I'd forgotten all about how badly it contradicted the Hernandez/Morgan feud.

I could see them doing it just since Jeff's bump ended up trending. Unfortunately, the place I saw mention it trending referred to him as a WWE wrestler and didn't even mention TNA.

Ohh I Vaguely remember that, I remember the Anderson concussion and something with Morgan but in general anything with Morgan in it, despite the man being talented is a bore.

Just TNA's version of Faces of Death. As long as Jeff wants to try to commit suicide via reckless bumps, TNA will keep hyping it for people with morbid curiosity.

If your big sell for a cage match on a TV special is "Hey, Jeff Hardy took another crazy bump" I think that's pretty sad to be honest. TNA has thrown every possible match on TV for free though so Jeff Hardy Vs Bobby Lashley in a Cage (Just a hypothetical, I know they didn't wrestle) doesn't mean a whole lot more than "See the bump"

One has to wonder why Jeff stuck with TNA at the height of his popularity (outside of his drug use of course). Jeff is going to reach that level when WWE look at him same way they look at Kurt.
