My problem with it was that for the majority of his reign, Punk was playing second or third fiddle. It's one thing for the WWE champion to be second but still prominent behind Rock/Cena, but Punk was completely overshadowed by it. Then he was or at least seemed AJ was overshadowing him after her push and the WWE champion was treated like an afterthought.

Holding the belt for over a year is a "token run"? Yikes. Not a token run, but it goes to my biggest problem: Raw 1000. The heel turn was one thing, but the big problem was the fact that The Rock had said he got to vault the challengers and got his title shot for the Rumble, that turned Punk's reign into a 434 day TRANSITIONAL reign. You knew from that point on- nothing Punk did as a heel mattered: He was a heel to fight The Rock at the Rumble, and The Rock was GOING to win that match, presumably to fight Cena at Wrestlemania. This. As soon as Rock made the announcement, the next 5 months of storylines were rendered pointless

I get the feeling Punk enjoyed working with AJ. As did Daniel Bryan with Brie Bella in the Daniel Bryan maybe a virgin storyline. It's amazing how shitty storylines lead to marriages so they really arent so shitty afterall! Actually I'm pretty sure I heard that Daniel Bryan hated that storyline, as it sucked and derailed him pretty badly, and that he was hesitant on doing the initial storyline with AJ because he thought it was going to be more of the same.

They decided to turn him heel halfway through it and cut heel promos that wouldn't stand a chance of getting heat because crowds loved him too much.

I remember the day of the PPV, being shocked that Cena went on last in a dumbass comedy match instead of the dream match that was Punk/Bryan for the WWE title. It was that moment when the reality of "they're not behind Punk enough to run with him" sank in, and it really only got worse when Rock showed up. The only reason Punk held the title for so long was because he was keeping it warm for him. They derailed a top face to turn him into a heel despite nobody wanting it, and evidenced by the whole "chant for Punk while he smears Paul Bearer's ashes all over himself" protest a few months later. His reign became an overbooked mess of the most high-level cheating shenanigans possible that ended up making nobody look good. Punk sure as hell didn't look good bringing in one person after another to help screw Ryback, and we all know how Ryback went. Which meant that by the end of Punk's reign, only Rock looked good, and Rock only looked good to give Cena his win back.
The longest reign of an era, and it did pitifully little for the guy who held it.

I didn't have any problem with it except the main event thing.

The heel turn was pointless and never should have happened. It looked goofy seeing a guy say and do all this despicable shit but still get a louder ovation than most of the roster. They were so desperate to get him heat, even having him interrupt Bearer's tribute and the Cena/Cancer Society segment (which was even more despicable because they were using Cancer to get Cena over).

I meant shitty as in TV angles and career wise but one of the most amazing things to happen in their personal lives for it was a start of beautiful relationship that ended up in a marriage

It should have been longer. Money in The Bank 2011 till WrestleMania 29. He should have main evented every show except WrestleMania 28. After he turned heel at Raw 1000 he should have beat The Rock at SummerSlam. Cena vs Rock 2 could've happened between SummerSlan and Mania 29, Cena wins the Rumble and gets his first win over Punk at WrestleMania 29.

I have no issue.
I wish we had more long term champions that went a year. It's more challenging booking than say...6 or more title changes in a year.

I main tuna that John Morrison would have been a great choice as a surprise opponent for Punk, playing off their history from WWECW.

The only issue I had was losing it to The Rock. I enjoyed the run as a whole, though.
