One of my heroes and he was an awesome man. Wasn't a shabby coach either lol. I am glad that he is no longer suffering from dementia and he's in a better place. RIP Coach Smith, heaven just got another shade of Carolina blue.

Surprised to hear this, though I don't know why. He developed a lot of great players and even more great young men with his focus on academics and graduation rates. I watched Tarheels basketball a lot throughout the 90s, so Dean Smith is associated with nothing but fond memories for me.
He will be missed.
