Does the Xbox 1 play CD's? Not a clue. It is more likely since MS was positioning as a media center and not a game system for a while. Well I hope the PS4 gets the ability to play CD's one day because I like too burn my music to my system and play them back while I'm gaming.

The other part is looking over the PS4 library, a few games stick out (35), and I want to know what experience my fellow fans have with them

Does the Xbox 1 play CD's? Not a clue. It is more likely since MS was positioning as a media center and not a game system for a while. Just put a CD in my Xbox and it played it without any issues (although, I do believe, like the Blu-Ray player, you have to download it first). Also, while I'm not aware of any physical limitations due to the laser, the main reason for them omitting the CD and DVD playback is because they would have to pay a bulk license fee to have that feature on every console, something that they couldn't really do during their race to the lowest price when they were putting it out. It's the reason why you need to download the apps on XBox (so Microsoft only has to pay the licensing fee per download of the app rather than a huge price to put it in every box).

Can't help you with the online part, but the experience playing is the same across all platforms. I play on PC. So I can give you my opinion on some games.
1001 Spikes - Fun indie platformer that is rage inducing as it gets hard as hell.
Dying Light - I am currently playing this and LOVE it. It's what Dead Island should have been. The sheer amount of stuff you can do is great, and just roaming around the city is fun too.
Injustice - Really fun fighting game. Even without online play you get a decent length story mode (about 5 hours), a ton of challenges, and different stories if you play the arcade ladder.
Outlast - Now this is a really good horror game. You cannot fight, you just run and/or hide from people pursuing you. The story is lacking a bit, but you get that sense of dread as you are left helpless against your stalkers, unable to fight back. Really fun experience.
Tomb Raider - This is a really good re-imagining or reboot of the series. Nice balance of fighting, stealth, and exploration.
Walking Dead - Haven't played Season 2, but Season 1 is great. This and other TellTale games take me back to the old Sierra days of Kings Quest, Police Quest and Space Quest. A good adventure game that is story driven.
Hope this helps with game info. Just fun stuff all around, although some much better than others depending on your interests.

As part of the question is seen, I want to know who plays online, as I plan on getting a PS4 when my financial aid kicks in, and would like to have a legit online experience The other part is looking over the PS4 library, a few games stick out (35), and I want to know what experience my fellow fans have with them Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag Grand Theft Auto V Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2 These are the only ones I've played. Black Flag - It's not bad. But it does suffer from most AC games in that it's very samey to the rest of the series. If you like the AC series, you'll like this one. GTA V - It's great. You should definitely play it. Injustice - If you're a fan of Mortal Kombat style fighting, and like DC characters then go for it. It's a fun fighting game that has appropriate difficulty levels depending on how experienced you are at these games. Walking Dead - If you're not familiar with Telltale Games, then you need to understand this is moreso an interactive story than a straight up video game. You control characters, what they say, and make decisions to move the story forward, but it's not avideo game in the traditional sense. With that said though, I have really enjoyed this franchise. The characters are good, and you generally care for them. I'd say go for it if you're a fan of the source material, but also understand what you're getting into.

Thing about AC is I've never played an AC game before

Valiant Hearts was one of my favorite games from last year. I definitely recommend giving that a look. Same goes with Transistor, an amazing game with an awesome soundtrack.
I just finished The Last of Us: Remastered last week. Such a gorgeous game that deserves the acclaim that its received.
Walking Dead Season 1 was a solid game. Season 2 was decent, although the writing wasn't really up to par when compared to Season 1.

I'd say see if you can get AC 2 for cheap. It's got arguably the best protagonist in the series, and will give you an idea of what the series offers at its best.

I play online, almost exclusively co-op. Not a fan of versus.
1001 Spikes - awesome, old school, punishing.
Alien Isolation - haven't played it.
Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag - Best Creed game, gorgeous too.
Basement Crawl - It was so bad the makers apologized and swore to remake the entire game. Haven't heard about it since.
Child of Light - sitting on it, supposed to be great.
The Crew - ugly as hell, but really fun.
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round - standard version is free, just try it. It is the same as other DOA games.
Diablo III - digital crack.
Don't Starve - really cool, great atmosphere, but not something I want to play too often.
Dragon Age Inquisition - gorgeous and glitchy. I cannot get engaged in it. I much prefer Bound By Flame which is poo poo-ed on by damn near everyone,
Dragon Ball XenoVerse - Looks rad.
Dying Light - One of my favorite retail games for the system. Damn.
Dynasty Warriors 8 - haven't played it yet. I like every 3rd Warriors game.
Entwined - dunno.
The Evil Within - sitting on it, a very divisive game.
Far Cry 4 - Maybe the second best retail game on the system. Awesome Co-op.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn - I refuse to pay a monthly fee.
Grand Theft Auto V - PS3 version was ok, but I went back to it the other day and it is too ugly to play.
Guilty Gear Xrd - Some of the best graphical effects around.
Infamous First Light - May be better than the main game.
Infamous Second Son - Pretty, but easy, and the shortest Infamous game. Beat it twice int he time it took me to be 2 twice. It was kind of nice though, it wasn't overly padded.
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition - Pretty tight.
Just Dance 2014 and 2015 - PFFFT.
The Last of Us - One of the best games, period.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - a funass sandbox of bliss.
Outlast - Played with headphones in a dark room. Didn't finish. It is good, but it is also the only game to unnerve me.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 - dunno.
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition - I hated the last gen version(made me motion sick). Loved the PS4 one. That game needed 60 frames per second. Tons of fun.
Transistor - Crazy awesome game, great art, cool story.
Valiant Hearts: The Great War - Amazing atmosphere and heart wrenching.
Walking Dead Seasons 1 and 2 - I love Telltale games, or did until these games. I Miss Sam and Max.
Watch Dogs - So very middling. A great foundation, I hope they build on it.
White Night - Dunno.

Here's what I've played.. Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag--> Very pretty and fun. But the mandatory ship missions are an absolute drag. Have made me quit playing for awhile multiple times. Diablo III --- I logged so many hours into this. Just trying to find the next piece of great gear, just one more run. A hacker gave me god-tier hacked items and taught me how to dupe, which I abused and broke the game for myself. Stupid me. If I play again I need to delete my save and start from zero. Dragon Age Inquisition - Haven't got through the entire game yet. Huge, so much to do. Some poo poo the combat, but I enjoy it. Dying Light --- Played through the main story in about 2 weeks. Still playing from time to time to drop kick zombies off buildings and knock out side-quests. Dynasty Warriors 8 --- If you like Dynasty Warriors, you'll like this. So many Warriors! So much leveling to do! So many weapons to play with! Dynasty Warriors is one of my favorite games. So simple, so much fun. The Evil Within -- Atmospheric. Can be scary. I rage quit frequently because FXXX invisible enemies. Such a cheap way to drain health and precious bullets. Far Cry 4 -- My least favorite next-gen game I have. Can't get into it. Haven't got into the story, don't like the characters, boneheaded AI. And my favorite part of the game, riding and killing on elephants, makes me feel motion sickness. Grand Theft Auto V -- Amazingly beautiful. Like every other GTA, I played for a few weeks and it lost its shine. Infamous Second Son --- Great graphics, and the powers are very fun to play with. A lot of people poo poo the main character, though I thought he was alright. The Last of Us -- My favorite game, story wise, that I have ever played. This would probably be my first recommendation if someone is looking for a great game. Can't say enough good things about it. Outlast --- Fxxxing scary. I hate the helpless feeling of the game, and I can't progress more than a little bit before tapping out.

In Far Cry 4, pretty sure you aren't supposed to like anyone. That is one of the reasons I like it. I also like that it isn't some white dude in a strange land like so many games.

Out of the list I've played:
Injustice --- As mentioned before a fun game especially if you played the last few Mortal Kombat games.
Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign -- Some of the most stunning 2.5D graphics I have ever seen, great soundtrack (As par for the course for these games), fluid controls and some of the most over the top super moves ever seen in a fighting game.
Dynasty Warriors 8: All right entry in the long running series, I like the refinements such as being able to switch weapons on the fly and having different paths based on what you do in battle. The graphics are nice but do slow down a little when the action gets a little intense and there is a bit of pop up and model clipping (Which have been issues since the series' beginning) and sadly the game has a tendency to crash maybe 10% of the time even with the latest patches.

Guilty Gear XRD is amazing. Shame it probably didn't sell that well. It has decent offline content (I only play online), although story mode is pretty much just an anime cutscene.
And if you like those types of games, I reccomend Under Night In-Birth (stupid name.)
