Since six of the most terrifying words I can utter about a video game are "They're letting me drive the car", that is a firm no to the racing game.

I've heard good stuff about Sifu so will finally give that a try. F1 is the most boring "sport" in the world.

I can't find a tweet for it if they've done one, but the March PS Plus games: F1 '23 Sifu Hello Neighbour 2 Destiny 2: The Witch Queen I’ll probably library then never play Sifu. Gonna let my PS+ lapse in July when my year expires. The goodies aren’t worth the price increase. We’ll see if I come back, or wait for a legitimately solid sale on the plus.

Started playing GTA 5 since it is on PS PLus Extra.
First time playing it. The controls are shit--especially the cover mechanic and leaving cover.

I let my PS Plus expire back in November when it came due. I'll probably sign up for an individual month on occasion if there's something decent, but I really just wasn't using it enough to keep it. Probably going to let my Gamepass expire when it comes due in August for similar reasons. The only real reason I even bothered to renew it when I did was the subscription would run into Persona 3 Reload's release and so far I'm finding that pretty underwhelming anyway.

Anyone got any game suggestions?
I tried GTA 5 and found it boring and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and again, found it boring (The combat was so repetitive--two hours in and all I did was blast pointless waves of skeletons. Yawn)
I like story and character focussed games now--a few games I have enjoyed over the past six months or so are Danganronpa, Front Mission One remake, Resident Evil 2, The Chant, The Quarry, Digimon Survive, Killer Frequency, The Witcher Thronebreaker and Not for Broadcast.
I'm not a fan of Open World unless it has a Red Dead 2 or Fallout vibe where there's fun stuff to discover (I hate open world where, you spend three hours exploring and all you find and a few cosmetics and a pointless collectible) and not a fan of grindy games (If I spend more time grinding for crafting materials than I do playing the story, then I quit)

Both are very deep story lines and lots of dialogue and lots to see and explore in the world.

The former two are kind of sister series with a lot of overlap in the fanbases - Monokuma even pops up in a cameo in the second AITSF - while the latter takes a lot of clear inspiration from Danganronpa while doing a really good job of doing its own thing. Actually another one along that line I strongly recommend is Raging Loop. There isn't the level of interactivity of these others, it's pretty much just reading and making occasional choices, but it's excellent and scratches a very similar itch to DR while being very clearly distinct from it. All of these games except Process of Elimination are on sale at the moment so it's a good time to try to get into them too.

I 100% recommend the Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster and the Witcher 3. Both are very deep story lines and lots of dialogue and lots to see and explore in the world. Mass Effect I enjoyed when they first came out. I may actually get the remaster, since it has been ages since I played them. Witcher 3 is one I couldn't get into--I really didn't like the combat and I found the world pretty dull. Other than side quests, there was nothing really to discover in the world. It felt empty--and the side quests, if I recall, were always marked on the map anyway to find. If you're into Danganronpa then I super recommend getting a look at the Zero Escape series (especially the first two, which are in the Nonary Games collection), AI: The Somnium Files, and Process of Elimination. The former two are kind of sister series with a lot of overlap in the fanbases - Monokuma even pops up in a cameo in the second AITSF - while the latter takes a lot of clear inspiration from Danganronpa while doing a really good job of doing its own thing. I thought Danganronpa was great for the most part--other than a few stupid mechanics during the trials. If you haven't already played Persona 5 Royal, do so. I never played Royal, but I completed Persona 5 when it first came out. Great game, but given its length not one I really fancy playing again.

I should probably up the like one game a year I buy on the PS5 at some point. The only new releases I've bought on it since WWE 2K22 are 2K24, Spider-Man 2, and Resident Evil 4.

I forgot that was out. Only reason I didn't buy it on launch was because I had just finished playing one of the Pathfinder games and didn't want to dive straight into another massive, very similar game like that. I'll see if it is on sale.

Given AI The Sominium Files a download, cheers.
Since it is on sale at the moment. Added a few of the other recommendations to my wishlist, and I'll wait until they are on sale.
Also found a game called Lake on PS+ that sounds interesting. I will give that a go first.

Speaking of sales, Jedi: Fallen Order is 90% off right now. £5.49 for the deluxe edition, or £44.99 for the standard version which isn't on sale.

I picked it up on a whim on a sale a few years ago, basically just to see if it helped me get over Episode 9. It absolutely did. Really fun gameplay, good story.

This was shown off at the Xbox Partners showcase today, but it's also going to be on PS5 (and Switch).
Looks like a lot of fun and I'm always been a sucker for Metroidvanias. It's being developed by a company founded by Abubakar Salim, who voiced Bayek in Assassin's Creed Origins and is a huge fan of the subgenre. It's dedicated to his father who recently passed away.
