"Duress arises when a party's free will to contract is overcome by an unlawful use of a threat of harm. If the harm threatended is physical force (e.g., "sign the contract or I'll blow your head off"), the contract is void."
As stated in my CPA Exam review book. Bad News Barett does not need to show up to face Ambrose at Fastlane on the grounds that no contract actually exists, despite the fact that Barrett signed the piece of paper.

I suppose Alberto Del Rio should have sued (well earlier, anyway) WWE when CM Punk was allowed to force him into a verbal contract in defending his WWE championship when Punk put Alberto in the Anaconda Vise.

They might consider hearing such an argument if not for their whole "we give no f***s about anything involving non-WWE WHC titles" policy.

I actually hope this happens. I want their match to happen at Mania. And I do NOT want it to be a rematch. So build it up by having Barrett refuse to face Ambrose and make fans anticipate their first encounter even more.

WWE rules clearly state that binding a man in a position that looks like he's about to be sodomised and forcing him to sign his name on a contract, is allowed.

Heidenreich raped Cole and there were no repercussions. There's some odd parody of the law that takes place in an arena when WWE shows are on.

This is actually exactly how contracts work in WWE. You can also assault someone who is about to sign a contract and sign it in their place.

I know this is a joke, but it's wrestling. I mean, Vince made Hogan sign the contract for their WM19 match with his blood. That shouldn't be allowed, right?

Yeah, signing contracts under duress happens like monthly in the WWE... and when it's not under duress theres usually shenanigans like someone else stealing the contract and signing their own name on it...

In my experience as a contract negotiator for a gravediggers' union, red ink used on an official document renders the contract void. Although, I'm probably wrong. I was a terrible negotiator. I managed to lose them holidays off, maternity leave and overtime pay. My only victory was that they didn't have to wash their hands after using the restroom facilities. I should point out there was no actual restroom facility unless you count the outdoors.

You're not using WWE logic. Logic that believes if you fling a guy into the ropes his momentum will return him to you or if you choose not to fight you're a giant p****.

Bad News Barett vs Dean Ambrose should be voided Champion's name is spelled wrong, thus the contract isn't even valid

He did bring this up with WWE management and his concern was addressed in a timely and racist manner. This is actually exactly how contracts work in WWE. You can also assault someone who is about to sign a contract and sign it in their place. Which is weird since don't most contracts tend to have the name of said signee in print under the line that is dotted. Unless WWE has real boiler plate contracts with "Participant One/Participant Two" or "Champion/Challenger" for title matches.
