I'm so used to Samoa Joe refusing to leave that I honestly expected a photo of him eating when I opened this thread.

Not at all, like I mentioned earlier, I expect Aries to be gone as well soon. I'm amazed Aries is still there to be honest. He, like Richards, seems to be a guy that doesn't mind burning a bridge or two and I was certain that he could only take TNA shit for so long ... apparently not. I guess he likes constantly having a World Title briefcase. I think Aries is just there because he knows he burned the bridge with ROH. Also, fantastic sig.

Oh thank goodness. The man hasn't done anything remotely interesting for the last 6 years he's been there. How are they gonna write him out of the BDC? They just won't mention him.

It's a shame his best years are behind him. I'd love to see him in WWE.
He can still go, though. I hope he catches on somewhere and has another few good years.

Lucha Underground would be the place for him for two reasons. 1: His wrestling style fits with the show, and he's used to wrestling high flyers. So Joe could really go all out. 2: The wrestlers' paying homage to their tribal/cultural backgrounds would work with his character. He could even bring back his elaborate Samoan entrance. Ever since watching like the first three episodes of LU, I've wanted Joe to go there. He could come in as Dario's enforcer or something. He'd certainly have a better push there than wwe. He'd be gassed before he got to the ring

Samoa Joe is one of many, many talents in the wrestling industry that just make me sad about wasted potential. For Joe himself and for TNA. Samoa Joe was once the closest TNA ever got to breaking through to another level and making a mark. He had buzz among casuals, my friends who stopped watching wrestling regularly sometime in 2005 and never watched anything but WWE actually knew who he was. I truly believe that had TNA been capable of capitalizing on that they'd have been so much bigger then they ended up being. And maybe then the entire wrestling scene would have livened up. Maybe JUST maybe, I'm pipe dreaming here but bear with me, WWE would have felt the heat and had to make moves. Hell... 2008 was actually a decent year for WWE. It wasn't until 09 that shit really started to fester again. Coincidence? Probably. But maybe a rising TNA that kept its shit together could have also saved us from a lot of the garbage WWE has put us through since then. Who knows. Its all what ifs but the wasted potential just kills me.
And for Joe himself... like someone mentioned earlier how a lot of guys who spent their entire career in TNA are almost like a lost generation of wrestling talent. Joe's 36 now. 2008 was 6/7 years ago. If Joe had got out of TNA in 2009 or 2010 like he should have he'd still have been young enough to have time to have a WWE run. I mean again, maybe that would have been botched as well and maybe it even would have been worse than his post-2008 career in TNA but the potential for something better kills me. The fact that Joe wasted so many prime years of his career in a rotting corpse of a company kills me in retrospect. And I'm someone who has appreciated and defended TNA here and there. But looking at where its ended up and particularly at Joe's career since then... it kills me to know that this incredibly talented special dude wasted key years of his career contributing to THAT and NEVER having the turn around.
Do I think he could still do cool stuff in his last few years of career? Yeah sure. A solid return to ROH run or maybe LU or something could give him some commendable stuff. But its all feels too late, and like something was just missed out on that we can never get back.

His home planet needs him. Actually how TNA would it be if he just got the Richie Cunningham treatment. He just walks up the ramp to never be seen or heard from again. Anyhwho, TNA's f****.

I'm happy, but also really sad.
This should have happened years ago. Unless TNA was giving him good, stable money all these years, it just bothers the hell out of me that he waited this long.
I just hope the money's good, because right now, TNA's just a pit of wasted potential.

I can see him becoming another AJ in the indies and maybe a ROH return. Honestly now, the interest I have in TNA anymore is about gone.

I'm quite sick of the Bullet Club. Since Devitt left it's quickly becoming NWO 2000 or even worse, the NWO of 1999 which had everyone from Vincent to Stevie Ray. They don't need any more members, and Joe would be better off not becoming random member number #5. I expect he'll just control his own bookings and do a good run of indy promotions like Dreamwave and PWS and PWG before eventually heading back to TNA in a year or two.

More food at catering for Abyss!
But on the serious side, I wish I could say this was a surprise, or even a let down. But its something that I was expecting for a while. Joe hasn't seemed very motivated at all lately, hopefully he will rediscover himself a bit on the indy's like AJ did.

I just had a thought, hear me out for a second!
What if ... Joe goes into MMA? and the first fight Punk has is against Joe?

I don't expect him to show up in WWE, but I do expect WWE to mention him in some sort of way on their website now he is no longer affilated with TNA.
