It's sad to see Joe go, but he kinda checked out years back. He should take some of the blame as well for not always being in his best shape or motivation and not putting his foot down when he had the leverage to do so. TNA deserves most of it though, they seemed to keep promising him jam tomorrow.
Oh, and the great thing about fresh, young talent is they're cheap, desperate for tv time and don't complain as much about your booking stupidity. But I'm sure that's totally incidental, TNA would LOVE to re-sign Joe but they just want to give those young guys a chance, goshdarnit.

Now that Joe's gone, can we please discuss how f***ing stupid this bump was? And how it really affected his career from there-on-out I feel like I lost future children just watching that

Who would of thought Angle would last longer then Joe, that's crazy. He get's to pick his shots as far as what he wants to do. I can see WWE/NXT giving him a call but I don't know if Joe will take to NXT same way Zayn/Owens/Neville has done. At this point i'm sure it's like a bright sunny new day for him and what he can do going forward.

Shame.
Joe and Styles should have been the big stars in TNA from 2009-onwards. The Hogan Era coupled with Vince Russo really derailed things but they had more than enough time to try to salvage things with Joe even after Styles, Hulk, etc, left. The Lockdown cage match where the crowd was begging for Joe to win the title, only to have Abyss cost him in the match in the most ridiculous way possible, really describes Joe's TNA run perfectly.
What a wasted opportunity. It must suck for guys like him to look back and realize how many years they ultimately wasted in TNA.

Not necessarily wasted if he was in that time able to at least earn enough to provide for his family, retirement, etc. I never got the sense that Joe was in TNA for the art of it the past 4 years or so, and the thought that being there allowed him to sort of provide in the best way possible.... the thought of that helped me reconcile all his talent not being capitalized on by the promotion.

Following Punk's example Joe will now write for DC Comics, despite no history as a writer, artist, or editor. Given DC's recent output, no one will notice. Joe would just get nerfed and jobbed out to Batman anyway. Everyone jobs to the Goddamned Batman. A better example would have been Matter Eater Lad. Come to think of it, he and Joe (and Dreamer...and Abyss...) all have the same powers...

I haven't watched TNA in years, but love Joe. Hope to see him all over the place. I do wonder if he'd go to WWE, him and Owens for the NXT title would be fun.

Now people keep saying his career is over from being something because he 36. I don't agree with that. While sure he may not be and NXT guy or WWE bound. The man still do very well else where and be a name like AJ has. This could help him get back in shape and motivate him by knowing he be doing more and have a chance to be in MEs and higher profile matches. IF GFW ever becomes a thing of there own shows he be perfect for that.

At this point, GFW can have 2 hour tv deal with Spike starting this Summer with a core roster of 30 people and I would still question its existence. Most people on the board don't think his career is over regardless of his age, stank of TNA, and injuries. But he is going to need serious career rehab. Styles, Daniels, Kaz, Sabin, and Shelley to do it. Joe is going have to do the same.

To be fair I don't see Joe becoming an AJ type. AJ was always motivated even in the dying days of TNA and wanted to prove in the indies that he was still as good as everyone said he was. Joe doesn't strike me as that kind of guy anymore and with 9 years of TV experience and a healthy independent wrestling background I don't see him going all out for anyone except maybe ROH if they grab him (Which I think they will). The rest will be him taking it easy in 8-10 minute matches for local indies or semi big indies earning like 2 grand a pop.

Joe should be the face of the company for years. He and AJ should be the Rock and Austin of the company in terms one and two as the faces of the company or the Cena and Orton if you will. The fact TNA fumbled and most fans know what he can do and where he should have been. The guy should been more then an one time World champion and most fans who ever watched a Joe match know that. If Joe is banged up which I say he time to held and maybe loss a few pounds. Less weight can only help his knees and back issues that I believe is what he dealing with. Hell maybe try DDP Yoga that helped Jericho's health and DDPs. He could then comeback in the best shape he been in years and likely be an ass kicker that he was before or close to it.

James Storm just tweeeted: "Sometimes you just have to bow out and know that something is in the waiting."
Not sure if that's about Joe, or Storm is planning on departing too.

Some of these guys are marks for the quick "OHHHHHH" moment, even if it comes from a few hundred fans on a throwaway PPV or TV episode.

It was this time last year that Joe gave a speech to The Roster during their tour that rallied and inspired them and made you believe they could perhaps fix things.
Then Lockdown happened.

I am appreciatve of all the times he on TNA TV, entertained the hell out of me. Best of luck. I hear there is interest from WWE. Don't know if true. But if it is, I hope he makes the best of his shot. The guy deserves it. If not I'm next to certain an AJ/Joe Indy program would be highly sought after by promoters

Yea it's great about young fresh talent, they don't complain about booking stupidity. And then a few years later they realise they have been badly used and they start not caring and you get a few Samoa Joes everywhere. So losing Joe do not fix anything. If anything even if they save money, they'll lose a few more fans cause Joe won't be there.
