I get the age thing; I guess if anything it's more that Samoa Joe really, really feels like used goods by now. It's like the other thread talking about how X-Pac was basically done as a performer when he was, even though he was as young as anyone else on the roster at the time.

Assuming for a moment that this rumor has even an inking of truth, while it would be nice to see, I think that ship has long sailed on Samoa Joe unless he SERIOUSLY gets motivated and has a Finlay-style run (yes, I know he's not THAT old, but you get the idea). He's only 2 years older than Balor and Itami! It's not the age, it's the mileage in this case. Joe would a great hire but he's going to have get back into classic Samoa Joe fighting shape. All that time in TNA and injuries made him not the same wrestler he used to be.

I hope this rumor is true just to see what his WWE name would be. It's not Smoe Joe? His NXT name will be S'mores Joe

If people doubt Joe wouldn't work to get near his prime shape for a shot at NXT/WWE, then I'm surprised. He is the way he is because TNA is awful.

I'll applaud MetsFan4Ever for making this "inside info" vague enough that regardless of the outcome, we won't be able to tell for sure whether or not he was lying.

I swear to goodness I was on the 7 train to Flushing the other day and I saw some dude on r/SquaredCircle making a post on his iPad and the only thing going through my mind was 'is he MetsFan?'. I was going to ask but unfortunately I am only a closet wrestling fan and didn't want to risk the exposure.

Meh I would have loved seeing Joe in a WWE setting years ago.
But the ship has sailed imo.

Metsfan is an "IWC Darling" in the same way Todd and the snarky spoilers guy are. Todd is awesome. To put him it the same category as those two jabronies is just wrong.

I love the part about Vince not be really interested. I'd imagine this conversation between HHH and Vince?
HHH: "I'm thinking of giving Samoa Joe a trial run on NXT once he leaves TNA what do you think Vince?"
Vince: "Is he related to The Rock?"
HHH: "Nope."
Vince: "Meh."

Before Mets reported that I heard that Joe is NXT.
The McMahon thing doesn't jive with reality. Triple H has autonomy on hires. Althought he may have asked Vince given it is a TNA guy.

www.pwmania.com/mick-foley-on-what-triple-h-told-him-about-samoa-joe-latest-news-on-wwe-doctor-suing-cm-punk- WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has a new Facebook blog on WWE possibly signing Samoa Joe, who just left TNA this week. Foley wrote: “I’d love to see it. A proven commodity given a new surrounding, and possibly a new look could be good for both Joe and #WWE. I remember running into Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in an airport in 2004, and mentioning I was on the way to a #RingOfHonor show. Triple H went out of his way to say that he’d heard that Samoa Joe was a “hell of a worker”. Hopefully Joe will get a chance to show WWE just how impressive he can be in person.”

Is he going to get himself in shape? (Yes, I know round is a shape). If he isn't, I don't really have an interest in seeing it.

Since everybody goes through NXT, I do believe at this point Triple H can hire anybody he damn well pleases (even Raven). Otherwise I'm not sure Steen would have got the opportunity. I also feel that Triple H really respects Regal's opinions on talent, and if Regal wants Joe there, it has a good chance of happening. If Triple H wants Joe there, and Joe wants to be there, then its going to happen. Whether or not Joe is used well on the main roster, that's another story. It should also be said that Triple H may respect Vince's opinion on a few guys based from past experience. I definitely don't see Paul London getting a NXT gig like Kendrick for example.

My assumption would be they were exchanging contact info. And here's more info regarding NXT courtesy Meltzer: That info is from this week's Observer, which also reports Joe will be announced to work 4/25 in MIN for ROH. I also looked at the NJPW schedule. That 4/23 date is in the middle of the house show circuit building up Dontaku. NXT would make the most sense, as Orlando and the smarks will be familiar with Joe, his presence (assuming he's motivated again) helps offset all the fresh talents to graduate this year, and developmental is perfect for someone to get re-charged. Plus, he's used to working in front of 400 people on a good night.

Problem with TNA was no carrot to motivate. Angle with his neck held together with tape, Jeff's "hobby", Anderson just killing time til retirement, Storm getting a beer belly, all of these guys were kept employed and pushed, they obviously weren't going to fire Joe for being fat so he fell into a comfort zone.
A few weeks in the PC with the likes of Balor, Itami, Zayn and Owens knowing that if he doesn't keep up with them he's getting cut will light a fire under Joe. I know he could probably make more money in Japan or with ROH but NXT/WWE could well be the best thing for him to get his grove back.

I'd love to see it, but I feel like they'd have to keep his name. He's a bigger name than the indy guys like Owens and Balor, and it's just a good name in general. Couple that with the fact that the Orlando fans will be super familiar with him and just chant "Joe" anyway, and they'd be dumb not to keep it.

Meltzer did say that Joe had interest from the WWE, I don't think it's really all that unbelievable anymore with who WWE's bringing in lately.
