Why did they need a battle royal to decide a #1 contender? Shouldn't Angle have automatically gotten the shot since he was deemed worthy enough to be at the top of the rankings?
Just another one of those things where it makes 0 sense if you stop and think about it for more than 2 seconds.

I wish this was like the 2010 fan voting system where Desmond was constantly voted to the top so they jobbed him out for daring to be popular. I would have loved for Angle to be at the top and jobbed out to Lashley in two minutes.

Being fed to Kurt Angle is a privilege worthy of many Battle Royals.

TNA trying to capitalize off the Royal Rumble, but forgot that by the time Impact airs most would have forgotten about the Royal Rumble match.

It's because it makes sense, just like EC3 who hasn't lost since coming to TNA over a year ago, being ranked 5th.

TNA just needs to stop doing rankings altogether until they get a clue about how they're supposed to work. Seriously, they embarrass themselves with their own incompetency each time they try something like this.

I can't think of a time that rankings have ever worked in wrestling. In MMA and real sports I get it but people like wrestling because it's unpredictable and you never know what's going to happen. If a company tells you "Our champion X is going to take on X, Y and Z" why am I tuning in? Only reason I'm tuning in is if X, Y and Z are my favourite wrestlers and I hope they win the belt.
WWE has tried it, TNA's tried it a couple times, I think ROH has tried it. It just doesn't work.

Everyone comes to the ring for the battle royal, including Angle. Everyone shakes him by the hand and they all quietly file to the back again.

As part of his contract, Angle must be treated as the John Cena of TNA. So he must overcome the odds while being verbally fellated by the announcers and opponents alike. Also everyone must talk about Kurt Angle and when he's not on screen, ask where is Kurt Angle.

I worry he's out on a drunken binge doing 80 in reverse down a highway on a snowy night time drive.

Also, if you're Kurt, you get to divorce a woman, and have a guy find love again after losing his wife tragically, and we're supposed to feel sorry for you for reasons and Jarrett's the bad guy.

Double J didn't respect the Bro Code with Angle. Never mind Kurt was getting his freak on with Rhaka Khan at the time.
