I plugged this game in because I knew my boy would love a wrestling video game (bad idea in and of itself). It's the most current one I have. Man, the menus and interface looks so terrible. I went to the CAW area later to see if I could make myself and him so he could beat the crap out of a fake me for a change. Man, it sucked so bad too. There were, like, fourteen goatee options; none of them your normal goatee and five were crazy designs from old wrestlers. The game itself looks "okay". But now I'm afraid to go back to Here Comes the Pain or Shut Your Mouth because who knows how poorly they've aged.

HCTP is still one of my favorite wrestling games of all time. Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 was complete shit.

First wrestling game I ever played. Christmas 07, I wanted this thing BAD. Didn't get it. Got it for my birthday, played it all summer. Those were the days, man.

HCTP and Shut Your Mouth have aged frighteningly well. Almost unfairly well.
Smackdown vs Raw 2008 had the best incarnation of General Manager mode going for it, but that's about it. It's the only wrestling game whose loading times I feel were noticeably poor.
Still better than the original Smackdown vs Raw however.
Smackdown vs Raw 2009 is cool for the insane Road to Wrestlemania's and one of those excellent rosters that really was pretty much everyone in the company at the time. 2010 has a fun roster and career mode too.
Otherwise the SvR series doesn't have much fond memories for me.
Man I loved WWE '12 though. It's the last wrestling game I've really fallen head-over-heels for, glitches and all.

I have huge memories and high regard for Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes the Pain and fond memories too for Know Your Role and 2006. I played the shit out of those games from Know Your Role (that was the second one, right?) through to 2006. The only one I never like was Just Bring It (the third one) because the CAW was beyond brutal (my dude always had his mouth hanging open) and terrible season mode. But they hit a high mark with installments four and five.
I had '13 for a while too but I was very disappointed with it and got rid of it within a few months. I did like that I could import my own music for entrances in that one. But the season mode was stupid to me.
If 2008 had of had that music importing feature I'd be happier, because I know my boy will flip if I can get his CAW to enter to the Unicron Theme from the Transformers Movie.

I remember being so pissed off that Sandman, Dreamer, and Sabu were all in the game but RVD was cut at the last minute. If I recall, he was in until they had to go in and cut Benoit, and WWE had them get rid of RVD while they were at it because he'd not renewed his contract in June.

SvR06 has aged decently enough, at least.

This is the only game in the THQ Smackdown/Vs Raw/WWE series I never played. I wasn't into wrestling during this time period for certain reasons.

Put it ridiculous amount of time into its GM Mode way back when. It was obvious that it was chopped up a bit to accommodate Benoit's removal. I recall the PS2 version had so much in the way of glitches it just became funny. Then again, the Wii version received so little attention in production that I'm half-convinced I could've done a better job with crayons and a cat. That shit would barely pass for an iOS shovelware title these days.

Best Smackdown games were SYM and HCTP. Two in a row and easily the best two games they've ever put out (Haven't played the recent ones though).

I played HCTP for the first time in maybe 2010, I never played it at the time, and honestly? That game has aged insanely well, and has a killer roster as well.

Was HTCP the one where you could Awesomebomb people off of the second floor balcony?
That shit was bananas.

Never played it. SvR 2006 was the last good one, imo.

I got some decent matches out of SvR08 and GM mode was good but man this game was just crap.
SvR 06 is by far my most favorite out of all the SvR series. People rag on how 2010 was bad but I actually liked the gameplay. If only the A.I. was better, it'd be my second favorite.

Here's what's funny. That CAW system is probably more robust in terms of options than the new WWE game is.
Think about that for a second.

I played both the console and DS versions of this title.
It's as close to "unplayable wrestling game" as you can get.
