I think this is the only time I've seen 2006 get any love. I still have fond memories of Kurt Angle vs Randy Orton in a cage match at the Wrestlemania 9 arena. Don't know why, but those were great matches. I've got fond memories of 06 as well. I really like the roster myself, I know the midcard selection isn't great and there were omissions (as there were in many of the Smackdown games). I guess you could say it's top heavy, but I still like the roster and the game overall.

One thing I hated about 2006 was it was nigh impossible to hit a top rope move on a downed opponent. They'd never stay down long enough to get a Frog Splash for instance.

Ah SvR 2008, the game when the WWE game franchise series started on a big downward slide.

I still remember being pissed when it turned out RVD and Shelton Benjamin weren't going to be in the game. I get the feeling that when they went into the game to take Benoit out they decided to take a few other wrestlers out as well, which explains why the roster was so thin in that year's game.
At least they made up for it with the next game's roster, which included Tony the Soldier!

I noticed there were a number of people that were in 2007 and 2009 but NOT in 2008. We're talking about guys still with the company, Benjamin, Viscera, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, The Boogeyman. Did the Benoit removal really curtail the character creation this badly? Or was it something else? I thought maybe the addition of powerups/wrestling types/whatever you call it, maybe that was the reason there were so few wrestlers, because they couldn't customize that many wrestlers in time for the game's release. Another rant by the way, could they really not delay the game a month or 2 because of all that happened?

2006 was awesome. I loved the finishing move sequence where it would cut to widescreen, go black and white, slow motion, and have that heartbeat sound. How have these games gotten worse? 2007 had decidedly better gameplay, but the Career/Season mode was worse.

You can help that a lot by turning off the camera cuts, either in general or just before going for it. It helps tremendously. Hilariously, the Swanton Bomb would give you another finisher for hitting it. So you can basically do it over and over again.
