I'm surprised to hear that Keith Olbermann at this point had a position to be suspended from.
The twist ending is after trashing PSU and cancer research his next gig will be doing for-profit college commercials, Jerry and Maury have to fill those spots somehow.

Once again this is one of the reasons I don't like twitter. Olbermann was more in the wrong here, but Twitter just has an amazing track record for people to make stupid comments and things getting blown way out of proportion.

I'm fine with Olbermann some of the time, but he got over emotional (as he often does) and f***ed up big time here. Neither the students, nor the charity, were involved in the assaults or the cover-up.

He gets very emotional at times, and hell I've liked the guy since it was Keith and Dan giving me my nightly sports fix on ESPN. I still have a first edition of the book they wrote together on baseball, and got to meet both of them (Dan's brother worked with my dad for 30 years, Dan is a GREAT dude) a few times.
My problem with Keith has always been that he'll draw correlations in his commentary that, even if I say "OK, I get what you were going for" will take it to a degree that just...well, this is a good example of it.

I like a lot of Keith's commentary on sports and news stories, but he was really out of line here. Very stupid thing to do on Twitter. Don't castigate the students at Penn State for the past actions of certain personnel. Yes, you can criticize the students after they reacted violently when their beloved coach was fired, but don't attack someone who expresses pride in their school for charitable works.

I'm an Olbermann fan generally, but this was the wrong hill to die on.

I'm a Penn State alum, and yeah, there's a cult surrounding football and JoePa and all that shit. But you can't really conflate the student body with the actions of its faculty. Sure, get on the case of the people who were turning cars over in protest when JoePa got fired, but don't throw the entire baby out with the bathwater. As a Penn State graduate, I'd rather not have to have my motives questioned over something I had no involvement in, in much the same way I'd rather people didn't ask "You know it's fake right?" when they learn I'm a wrestling fan. Olbermann was out of line.

...Why were they tweeting to him?
Perhaps I'm super misreading it...but it feels like
"Hey, guy who hates us, let me send you our super successful good thing. Now EAT IT on insulting our college for completely different reasonings! WE ARE!"

Olbermann is the type of of person who has to have attention paid to him all the time.

Meh, the company suspended Keith Law from Twitter for doing way less. They still suck, though.

Apparently he made comments about Penn State students that we're less than flattering about how the entire student body are awful people so an alum brought up THON (which raises a lot of money for pediatric cancer) and Olbermann called her and the students pat

Apparently he made comments about Penn State students that we're less than flattering about how the entire student body are awful people so an alum brought up THON (which raises a lot of money for pediatric cancer) and Olbermann called her and the students pathetic which made other students pissed. So they went after Olbermann and he went right back. And I get why many would still hate Penn State. I didn't go there but I have friends that went there and are very involved b with THON so I get then being pissed

So he has been fired from: ESPN MSNBC Al Gore's former network that he sold to Saudi oil barons and now he's suspended from ESPN AGAIN?!? I think only Vince Russo has been given more chances to screw up...

What did he do or say that was so wrong? Penn State students and fans are pitiful and the fact that they're using the money they raised for pediatric cancer research as some sort of a "f*** you" taunt to a media personality shows that they are still a pitiful, delusional bunch. It can't be that they just did a great thing, they have to be smug assholes about it. That's all he was saying and it's the truth.

I'm fine with the suspension, but I look forward to a speedy return. Despite his many flaws Olbermann is someone I do respect.

If I'm a Penn State fan or the University itself, I'm not trying to pick a fight with anybody. Ever.
