Now, I doubt any of you actually watched this show, and I can't blame you, but there was one massive positive from this show that I would like to point out: the arena looked great.
I really loved the set up of having the ring on the stage in what looked like a theatre. It was aesthetically pleasing and that's more than I can say for all TNA shows these days that aren't in the UK. I really wish they'd shoot more shows like they shot this one.
Other small notes:
- Taz and Tenay didn't speak a single word about the matches in the ring all night, yet they still managed to be better than anything Taz and Mathews have done. - Gail and Taryn had a great little match and it's the only KO match in years that I thought deserved a "better than divas" chant ... and guess what? no chant. Dammit. - Abyss and Monsters Balls matches - no more. Every one is the same and he's even setting them up the same now on these shows. He does a promo before the match saying, 'you're lucky this is just a regular wrestling match tonight *insert opponent here* blah blah blah' and then in the ring he does the same speech before his opponent makes it a Monsters Ball. Riveting. During the match, my fiancé' asked me if we've seen this before after watching Abyss run the ropes and for EY to move the chair up into his groin when he jumped and when EY used the cheese grater on his nuts, and I had to tell her that 'No, he just does this every match.' It's sad when a casual fan is noticing the repetitive nature of your matches.

"Better than Diva's" chants simply don't work now NXT is a thing.

You know what's funny about the Rivals PPV? Only about three matches on the cards feature people who have feuded with one another and maybe one that would count as an actual ongoing rivalry.
TNA has a pretty decent history and could make this card a super show. AJ and Daniels probably could have gone here and if available I'm sure they'd come in for a one shot deal for TNA. They had Joe at the time as well so you could have done AJ/Daniels/Joe which is one of TNA's greatest actual rivalries. Gail/Kong could have been done as could Storm/Roode and Abyss/Jeff Hardy. Throw in Bram Vs Magnus and maybe Sanada Vs Muta and you have a strong card but in classic TNA fashion it's a thrown together piece of shit ending the "Rivals PPV" with Jeff Hardy Vs Magnus who had one match together a year ago and never came into contact with one another since (Unless you count Willow). Alternatively if you HAD to have Angle here you could have done Angle/Joe as well and just have AJ/Daniels.
I don't know. If I were TNA I'd be trying to make these things replicate the title and make them special instead of a thrown together card of rematches that we all saw last year or this year.

I don't know if Al Snow and D'lo Brown are still the agents but whoever they are, they need to go ASAP. Every match on this card outside of the opener and the main event fell into the same trap of blowing their wads way too early, slowing to a tedious crawl in the middle, and then falling completely apart at the finish. It was so bad that a crowd that had been hot for Tiffany and Gail Kim completely died around halfway into the show and were not coming back until the end of the main event. The wrestling on Impact these days is a hundred times better than what was on this pay per view.
The commentary? Don't even know why they even bothered to bring Taz and Tenay in. These guys spent more time talking about Deacon Jones more than they did any of the matches on this show. It was the worst of WWE's commentary on steroids.
I got this show off a torrent and boy, am I happy I did so. This show wasn't even worth the measly 15 dollars that I would have had to pay had I actually gotten it on PPV.

Since leaving them, everyday AJ has sent a text flipping them off with one hand and holding the check he's gotten from NJPW while having the IWGP title around his waist while telling them in Japanese to go **** themselves. He's not coming back, AJ isn't going to ever set foot in TNA ever again after 11 years of putting up with it. Same will likely go with Joe and Daniels.

In his RF Video shoot from January 2014 he said he hopes to go back someday. I'm not talking about a real comeback anyway though. Have him come back for your "Rivals" Pay Per View since he's in the most notable rivalry TNA has ever had. I'm sure if Dixie called AJ and said "Hey AJ, we've got 3 grand with your name on it if you come in and wrestle your best friend" he'd be okay with doing it.

He can get a indy promoter to do the same thing. If TNA offered him that 3 grand, he might still be there.

I am pretty sure that money is why AJ and Daniels left in the first place. AJ is pretty happy in Japan and ROH he has total control of everything.

AJ could never come back, the TNA roster's too thin to be able to handle all the broken necks.
