they should make it a reverse gauntlet match. whoever loses to Barrett is the champion. I mean he loses to everyone, it will be great to see a bigger jobber than him when he wins and the loser becomes the IC champion

I want to see these guys wrestling 1 on 1 matches with a story, instead of clusterf*** ladder match bumpfest. It's for a title at least, but it's lazy writing that makes the wrestlers involved completely interchangeable. A fair point, and the way they slapped this together shows that they're flying by the seat of their pants on this, but to be fair, it's probably the best avenue available to them right now. If they do this right, the match can set up multiple months of feuds involving guys like Bryan/Barrett/Ambrose/Ziggler, and could be used to revitalize the title itself. ...I'm not saying it'll accomplish any of that, and your overall point is correct, but it's probably the best solution they've got right now.

My hope is that Ambrose will turn heel on Bryan in the aftermath, something like that. There is storyline potential there, but it feels done more out of wanting to feature people but not having stories than done with an eye towards future angles.

This is probably the most positive Wrestlemania-related thread we've had in awhile.

It also hints at the wider issue... Like, what if they actually DID make Bryan the guy? Ziggler still isn't. Ambrose still isn't. Which is why the solution isn't so much making *insert name* the guy, as it is booking everyone reasonably strong and/or giving these guys fleshed-out angles, so that it's not the end of the world if they AREN'T the guy.

Huh. This is kinda fuzzy, but wasn't there some technical wrestler guy ten years ago that won the World Championship in the main event of WrestleMania? And then a year later he was in a multi-man ladder match? Wonder what happened to that dude. I'm not sure if we should keep making the "Bryan is the new Benoit" comparisons. Feels like we're tempting fate, somewhat. I think we're safe now. When he first came in I saw him as the new Benoit. An excellent wrestler who just didn't have the charisma to be a top guy but he (not Benoit ironically) proved me wrong which is why I'm now a big fan. That said I'm not happy he's being demoted like this unless the idea is to elevate the IC title then I can grudginly except.

It'll be a great match but... it's pretty ridiculous that they have all these great wrestlers on the roster and have to go "THROW EM' ALL IN ONE MATCH SO WE DON'T HAVE TO THINK OF OTHER STUFF FOR THEM TO DO." That's the type of stuff TNA does with their X-Division and look at how useless that thing became.
Talk about having no faith in your own talent to be stars and draw people in.

Ryback is totally going to be the heavy for that match, isn't he?
...

If Daniel Bryan is in the match I hope he wins. Just assume that he's going to lose every match for the rest of his career that way when he wins something you can be happy. I'm not one of those Daniel Bryan fans, I like the guy but he doesn't even crack my current top 5. I just think it'd be neat for him to be IC champ.

Speaking of TNA and the X-Division Title, I'm getting some mean BFG 2013 vibes where they did a ladder match for that title and threw in Jeff Hardy into the match for no other reason than that they had nothing else for him. Daniel Bryan is playing the part of Jeff Hardy in this scenario.

More like a broken Andre The Giant trophy... Ryback's set to be in the battle royal. He was also set for last year's Andre, but then ended up challenging for the tag team titles on the preshow, so it's not unprecedented.

Wow. This is the best spot the IC Title has been in at WrestleMania since WrestleMania 16. With it being a ladder match, that guarantees it won't be some throwaway three minute sham, but an actual spotlight to the upper-midcard guys. Granted, three of them could justifiably be in the main event rather than Reigns, but still.

It's very good news for me as I've missed the Ladder match at Wrestlemania. I hope it doesn't go past 6 superstars though.

YES A MILLION TIMES YES!
Can't wait to witness it front row. At my two live events I went to (both WM Revenge tours) there wasn't any gimmick matches, so I will witness my first ever ladder match. Can't wait

I would do:
- BNB - Ambrose (winner) - Ziggler - Truth - Harper - Christian
That's right.... Christian.
He hasn't worked in a year (ironically, his last match was beating Ziggler/ADR/Sheamus to win the #1 contender for the IC title) and he's all but done, but it would be neat if his last match was a ladder match at Mania. He could take a big bump for Harper/Barrett to send him off for good. Plus, he is a ladder match expert and would contribute nothing but expertise/good ideas to the match (added bonus for the symmetry of having both E & C's last matches at Mania). Him having not worked in a year and being injury prone doesn't really matter if this were to be his last match.
It's a pipe dream cause WWE will just run the clock out on his deal like they just did Mysterio's, though.
