What if he gets massively over with the live crowds, draws solid ratings for his segments on TV, starts selling merch on a high level?
Let's say not Cena levels, at least at first, but close enough that it's clear that the "WWE Universe" has accepted him, that he can carry the torch ... what is your reaction?

Acceptance. I like the guy but I think it's too early. If they can pull it off though I'm willing to admit I was wrooo... Wrooo... Well, good for them anyway.

Good for him if it happens. But, it won't. He's already been tainted by being the chosen one. People don't want a "chosen one", they want to pick their guy and not feel manipulated.
They made Roman look too strong.

Utter surprise. If he does get over to that degree it will be a miracle.

Then he'll deserve to be the guy, but he doesn't draw ratings, merch or live crowds acceptance at a main event level, so saying he should be the guy is awful.

Great! I hope he does but I just can't see it in the short-term. A feud with his former Shield brothers should be great in such a scenario.
(I assume in such a situation the fans have accepted him because he's stopped delivering awful promos and has proven he's at least passable inside the ring both of which are feasible)

Hopefully, if that happens, then it'll be because he's cutting good promos, having really good matches and doing a load of work for the company outside the ring.
In which case, absolutely no problem and thumbs up for the guy. That is the target, after all. Doing it is the tricky thing.

I'm not predicting it will happen, but the word used above -- acceptance -- I'm wondering if he would be accepted if it does.

He needs to have a similar path that The Rock had. Become the new hand picked Corporate Champion and develop a character from being a heel. Transition said character into a face later when he's already developed.

The future's so bright I gotta wear shades. Can't wait to see him destroy every NXT guy they bring up.

If Roman becomes The Guy then he'll have surpassed Luger, Kevin Nash, Randy Orton, Batista, Triple H, Sheamus and every other guy they were primed on making "The Guy" and the sad thing about it is that most of these guys (except Luger) is better overall than Reigns. In wrestling history, this never works, at all. If Reigns becomes The Guy I not only will be shocked, I'll give him props for defying history. That would be incredible.

Alright. I'll say it.
Dude could be getting Rock-level reactions and some people on here would still be going, "he's not ready", "he's not over", "why did they ever push this guy over Daniel Bryan?"
Because it's hard to admit you're wrong and catch an L when your pride is as big as a house which fits more than a few people on here, frankly.

I'd like to see it. He definitely has the look. Not every "the guy" has been a technical wizard. With some more experience, he should improve. If he doesn't improve and doesn't get over... that's rasslin'.

Dude, I've seen people on here flat out say that they don't hear when Roman is being cheered when he clearly is on TV. I've experienced it WITH MY TWO EYES AND EARS. I don't care if you like the dude or not, that's bullshit either way. It's selective hearing. Or, my personal favorite, when you call em out on their shit, they just duck under the point and talk about everything under the sun except what the f*** I'm actually talking about. A few, not everyone, are gonna push their agenda no matter what the situation is. I've seen it with several situations that don't involve Roman. It sucks but that's how it is. And that's not just here, that's literally every internet forum/discussion board I've been on.

Just because he grows into the role doesn't mean I still won't resent that Bryan isn't in that spot when he was hugely over, or that they would actually keep going with Reigns to let him get over his flaws and give him 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th chances while giving up on others.

If he gets over, that means we like him.
If we like him, that means we like the product.
If we like the product, that means we're happy.
We're happy.
We're happy.
Obviously, it's not that simple. But hopefully you understand my point.

I dont like Reigns, but regardless of my opinion, if he (or anyone) manage to become the guy, they've earned it. This is something that is basically an imposible task, since once Cena climbed that mountain, the best anyone can hope for is the second place spot.
