The new season of House of Cards was uploaded today onto Netflix. To make discussion somewhat easier, we should (a) point out exactly where we are up to in watching it, and then (b) post under the SPOILER tag. I'm up to Episode 3. {Spoiler}Very obvious from the first half of Episode 1 that Doug Stamper plays a huge role in how this season will play out. As he's been shunned by Frank, I think he could be the one who ends up bringing him down... unless Frank and Claire get to him first.
It's blatant that Frank is one of the least popular Presidents ever, and the fact he's making people think he won't run for 2016, when in fact he will, won't exactly curry favour with the American public. And it's becoming clear that Claire, despite her "soldiers are irrelevant" comment, is more politically potent at this stage.
Totally marked out for them getting Pussy Riot to show up in Episode 3. Their Russian President is a blatant Putin clone, but he was well acted, and proved to be Frank's foil at every turn. Can't wait to see how their tensions rise throughout the season.

4 eps in and I already like it so much more than season 2. 2 was so bad, I almost gave up. Frank being President breathes so much more life into the story, though.

Season 2 I felt was great and could've been a perfect closer to the series. Here's hoping I have the time to sit down and check out the third season at some point.

That debate was freakin' nasty.
What the hell, Frank?

I just finished episode 7. This has been my favorite season so far. Didn't care much for season 2 but as already mentioned, the dynamic with Frank as president makes it fascinating. I marked hard for {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Claire going off on the Russian president at the end of her speech, and then telling Frank "I should have never made you president" at the end of episode 6. Frank's "what are you looking at?" was a fun use of the talking to the audience gimmick.

Had the day off yesterday so I watched the whole thing. Good, but not satisfying would be my short spoiler free opinion.

Finished it, last night. I almost didn't watch this because season two did nothing, for me. But this was an excellent season, overall. Loved the writer character, hope he comes back, for season 4. Claire remains the most compelling, but occasionally infuriating character. This season took everything up a notch and it sucks that I have to wait a whole year for the next.

I rolled my eyes and wanted to give up within the first three minutes of episode 1. {Spoiler}Frank Underwood goes to his father's grave and pisses on it. LITERALLY. He LITERALLY pisses on his grave. Subtlety is not one of "House of Cards" strong points, apparently. What's next, he gives the Vice President the bird by literally handing him a pheasant? It was yet another reason why I hate the show and struggle so mightily to get through each episode, and yet another example of how right HitFix's Alan Sepinwall was when he called it, "simply a bad show with the pretensions of a good one — a USA show that's bad because it thinks it's an HBO show."

When it's good it's really good, like watching the characters deal with political crises, but I frequently felt most of the cast was out of character a bunch during the season overall.

Just finished it. Still processing how I feel. {Spoiler}Claire leaving him was telegraphed for a while so I wasn't that shocked. I didn't like how the Stamper storyline played out. Seemed like he was making progress and then he just goes back to being by Frank's side and kills Rachel anyway. Felt like a waste of time.

Is it bad that I always want Frank to succeed?

Finished watching the season. Thought it was good for the most part.. But {Spoiler}Did the writers of the show just forget that Zoe Barnes and the people around her exist? There was no mention of her at all. I know we should not really compare this show to the U.K version, but when the Francis character in that show murdered the young reporter he was haunted by it for the rest of the series. I know Francis is ruthless, but he was ruthless in the UK series but in that show he was allowed to show to some remorse.

It was ok. But the Frank:Claire relationship has always bored me. And this season focused a lot on that.
