Not so much on this forum, but certainly others.
You'll see people go to the trouble to type out really nasty stuff in forum discussions like, for example:
"Vince is a piece of shit. f*** THIS COMPANY. Vince just needs to roll over and die already."
"Hogan always sucked, he's a prick and an egomaniac. He destroyed every wrestling company he was ever in. He only knew two moves, boot and leg drop."
It's just fake wrestling. You don't know these people, other than their wrestling personas. They're fair more succesful than you.
Just pure hatred. Over a fake wrestling show. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure its the same on movie forums ("Nolan sucks and needs to DIE!") but it just seems crazy to me.
Like, take Triple H. One of the best ever. Yet fans take him holding down some wrestlers (reportedly) in his time as a personal slight and are probably more bitter about it than the wrestlers who were involved. Just always seemed crazy to me. The level of hate (online) "fans" have for the likes of Hogan, Triple H, Cena, Vince and perhaps Reigns now can look crazy.
Any thoughts?
Like I said, this forum is nowhere near as bad as others with this kind of stuff.

You can take any subject and if you look hard enough on the internet find the same thing.
Even something like... uhm... Snails.

This doesn't mean that we're not entitled to moan when Trips squashes Bryan sometime in the future or something. I'll be right there with you. It's just when fans go to extremes

If you think that's bad you should take a look at some of the sh*t Paige (and I would imagine other female wrestlers) has to put up with on her Instagram feed. Being called a slut when she's photographed with a man, constant creepy declarations of love, verbal sexual abuse, she gets the full works. In comparison with that I think being told you're not a great wrestler is a good day at the office.

I remember a whole debate here once about whether the WWE was the worst company in history. Not just wrestling, mind you, but any company, ever, in the world.
Then there was the poster in the post-Rumble thread who hoped for a botched surgery on Reigns and then followed that up with, "Trust me. I'm being very generous with the misfortune I wish on him right now." (I just looked it up so I got the quote exactly right).
I think this board is slowly merging into what the rest of the internet is, but it's not too bad yet.

We had someone accuse Miz of attempted murder, so I think we're not going to top that one

I'm sure everyone in the public eye gets this. I think when it comes to the females no one takes more abuse online than Tammy Sunny Sytch. (Yes I am very guilty of this), and some of the stories are true but some are also very outlandish and way out there to be true. She is partly responsible for it herself when she instigates on social media by trashing others, but it just opens up a flood of haters when this women speaks or her name appears on the dirt sheets. Everyone has a Sunny story.

And on the other end of the spectrum, there's the ones who keep defending Chris Benoit and act like he did nothing.

Now, with social media being what it is now, it's one thing for fans to make inflammatory comments about people in the business. But what is WORSE is fans bullying other fans online, and I've seen it happen. Especially when it comes to a certain syndicate here in this area. There is a certain wrestler who has/had stroke in the company and he basically sicced his followers (not just Facebook followers, they are like a cult) on my friend for criticizing valid points about a show in September. And for being a little bitter because he thought he had the power to block her from shows and insult her personally and publicly. Gee I wonder where that bitterness came from? He then went on to spread rumors about her as well (some of which may have started by a certain other local "star"...he is no longer with us so I will withhold other comments).
Shoot I might as well count all parties as just fans, since they'll likely be nobodies, no matter how many late night timeslots their pro-bullying infomercial gets. They don't deserve even those slots.
Actually there's a lot of trashy people amongst indy fans. I'd love to name names. And most of them will try to act like your friend when you see them face to face.

If someone were to say to me "Chris Benoit is the best worker of all time" My first response would be "Doesn't matter, he killed his wife and son".

In comparison with that I think being told you're not a great wrestler is a good day at the office. It's like that for everyone, especially attractive female celebrities, Kate Upton posts a new photo on Instagram, comments include "I hate you", "Fugly bitch", "Slut". I remember a whole debate here once about whether the WWE was the worst company in history. Not just wrestling, mind you, but any company, ever, in the world. Then there was the poster in the post-Rumble thread who hoped for a botched surgery on Reigns and then followed that up with, "Trust me. I think this board is slowly merging into what the rest of the internet is, but it's not too bad yet. I returned late last year after being largely absent for the better part of four years. I discovered the tone around here to be much more negative than before. Sorry, but Laurel Lance from Arrow has just pissed me off so much that I have no patience with that character. I'd rather have Sara or Nyssa replace her.

Wrestling fans are right up there with porn fans, my little pony fans and one direction fans as the creepiest fan base. I don't think all are bad because clearly I am one of them and think I'm fine but the ladies wrestling fans can be particular creepy. There was a Tumblr page called "Creepy wrestling fans" and you'd have guys contacting SHIMMER girls asking to buy their used ring boots, used gear and all sorts of other weird stuff. I believe one wrestler was threatened with rape.
So yeah, a lot of the wrestling community are great but a lot take things way too seriously and it makes the rest of us look bad.

When I used to write a WCW Nitro recap sheet in the late 90's, I used to get some of the most outrageously negative e-mails from people, especially over my feelings about Chris Benoit. I always appreciate Benoit as a wrestler, but didn't feel he was World Champ material. I can't remember any death threats, but I got called names and had many disgusting things sent to me. As a huge fan of pro wrestling, it was bewildering to me how anyone could feel THAT passionately about it.
Unfortunately, I think wrestling appeals greatly to the unwashed, uneducated and unintelligent. When I worked as a library clerk for a few years, I would see a lot of these folks come in and camp out on the public computers watching WWE on Youtube and clicking through WWE.com for hours. It was pretty much 100% young men with part time or no jobs. Sometimes I made the mistake of letting them know that I was also a fan, which led to some interesting discussion.
I know one guy in his mid 30's who gets upset and defensive if you mention John Cena getting beat. Then he starts talking about Cena as if he believes that wrestling is real. I had another guy in his 50's blow up on me because I said that I preferred Dustin Rhodes over his father as an in-ring talent.
I find myself hiding the fact that I'm a wrestling fan more to keep from associating with other wrestling fans than I do to avoid the "you know it's fake?" comments.

I know that most posters here like to say that this forum is not as bad as other forums, but honestly, that doesn't mean anything.
A more casual friend always joke with me about how this forum will overreact after every raw and PPV, so in the regard, I don't hold this forum as highly as must people here want to think
